I don't know why people think stock ics kernels are unsafe.It's only CWM and rooting which causes problem.

Android is unreliable OS. I have had at least 5 Android phones and so I know. Windows Phone and iOS work much better and reliable.

Dear GSMARENA, I have samsung galaxy note and updated it to ICS two days ago but didn't find S Note app or the premium suite features. Can you please advise of the reason and how to get this update? my location is Dubai. Thanks

I think it's wiping and not flashing that they say causes the problem. I also believe they say that CM9 is NOT safe. If you have any doubts I'd recommend you go to xda and have a look for yourselves.

that is why i have stopped buying Samsung products. They will choose to lie low until it becomes a matter of concern of considerable scale, than only make a move, which is by then too late.

The bug isn't triggered by the ROM you're going TO, but the ROM you're coming FROM. Affected kernels can irreparably damage the onboard flash, including stock Samsung ICS kernels. Wait until Samsung releases a bugfix before flashing to another ROM unless you know what you're doing.

To 95% and over out of 32 millions plus S2/Note stock users, they're not even reliasing it and has been using the S2/Note happyly for months. This news read like, Huh? What's that?
There's plenty of us the Note users, flashes tonnes of different cook rom without a single hiccup. Even if you've got a bad chip with Chainfire's "Got Brickbug" apps, most of the time you will not brick your Note with any other custom rom.
Maybe out of good will, some rom master got over the top trying his best to erase everything for us with his rom, but too bad it just backfired. So rom flashing happy feets, read carefully before any rom flashing OK?

Just flash with CF-Root and go to custom C9 roms and enjoy :)
I have this "bug" and I reflashed 100 times my phone and NOT BRICK!
Most SGS2's and Note's have "bad" chips (its actually the firmware that's bad). This is ONLY DANGEROUS if your kernel is dangerous as well. Gingerbread kernels are usually OK, Samsung ICS kernels are usually (bad on Note, GOOD ON SGS2), custom ICS kernels: look in the kernel's thread. This is a simplification. See Entropy512's excellent post with some further details about which kernels are what.
So, we don't have BAD kernels on SGS2, only NOTE have!

This is ONLY for NOTE, not for SGS2!!!
And only one firmware is bugged, official LPY ICS for NOTE!

at least samsung respond.... i flash my note with fear, but no hard brick yet... using abyss recovery is only the safe mode

Although i have the 0x19 chipset i flashed roms a 1000 times and no problem. The problem is when the happy flashers don't follow the instructions

I have the Samsung Note and some time the back bottom just freeze , when this happen i have to turn off the phone and turn it back on. How can I get this fix?

The app says my GS2 has the dodgy brickable eMMC to, but i have flashed LPQ, LP7, LP4, LPS and LPD fws, and gone back to LPS, i also played around with the Slim ICS 3.8 AND 3.9 ROMs, and never bricked my GS2, I must be lucky. :)

This bug was discovered when the official ICS ROM for the Galaxy Note was leaked and people started flashing and then reporting bricks (hard bricks, the ones you cannot recover from). It's not a custom ROM issue but the official ROM. So far the recomendation is not to flash ANY official ICS rom or ANY custom ROM based on the official. But custom ROMs based on CM9 are totally safe. There's no blame at all in custom roms, this time, they're even safer.
