Personally, I'm looking for a smaller phone. I just want to have a one handed experience, great camera and regular updates. This phone will do well because there are many people like me who do not have their face glued to there screen all day. I can't understand all the talk about battery size. If the phone gives me 4 hours of the screen being on in a day then good nuff! I don't care about fast charge, wireless charge 4 cameras on the back..... I understand not for everyone but there are those of us who just want a phone to talk, text and take photos here and there. 300 bucks, this will do well. My only problem is how long they are making us wait. There are NO options for any Android fans who want a smaller phone especially in the USA. I'm glad Google is catering to those who want a smaller phone. Those other manufacturers should take notice.

Anonymous, 26 Jun 2020To the ones who say how there are better options, you shoul... moreExactly! It's really hard to find a "compact" phone, especially a good one.
Pixel 3a/4a, S10E, P30 seems good candidates but they all have their flaws.
I'm waiting the 4a since March now (my smartphone died after many years of use).

But seriously what are they doing? I think that if the Samsung A41 has a good review on GSMArena i will just take this one even if it's just an average smartphone. I'm tired of waiting, i have a lowcost backup phone that cause me a lot of troubles.

I am waiting for the 4a, a month ago after I learned there is no hope, I bought Galaxy S10 Lite, my main concern was the camera ( I have a refurbished Pixel 2 ), when the phone arrived I immediately took it out the box and took pictures! it was horrible! I compared it to my Pixel 2 and it was day and night difference! even though my Pixel 2 is refurb with some fix was done on the camera, it still took way better pictures, the Pixel 2 that I had before the refurb took even better photos, long story short I sold the Galaxy S10 Lite after 60 minutes of photo sessions, I am still waiting for the 4a or 5, Pixel cameras by far are the best in the market, my friends with iPhones, Galaxies they all struggle against my single camera Pixel 2, for me and others! we don't care about 70% of the specs, we care about a nice build and great camera and google seems to understand us.

Even with them being barred from US trade and GMS, my P30 is going to get Android 11 and I'm positive will get Android 12 in the future judging by their current support for the Mate 10/10 Pro.

But here price tag is something which will be a matter of worry.

Software wise Apple and One+ are both good. And Pixels too won't have issues about software updates.

Only thing left is - price tag.

Apple entered the market first as an affordable offer and is reaping it's benefits. This was supposed to be the segment where Pixel4a was going to bank upon.

For example in China, people change phones frequently like 4-6months so they don't care much about software support since they then buy a new phone that comes with latest Android version and latest security patches...

PS: google doesn't decide themselves, it was May, then June, then October, now it's soon...OK. When it finally arrives, it'll be late and there will be another fresh wave of smartphones...

Lol those people are embarrassing who compare the most compact android phone of 2020 with 6,5 inch bricks and cooking spatula. The stockish android is so clean and power saving optimized from google that you'll get a pretty decent SoT out of this 3000mAh battery which is not small for a phone this size, believe me. The former little Pixel 3a also performed well with 6-10h SoC (tested by myself). So don't worry guys.

People on GSM Arena truly are naïve and only focus of specs. If specs was end all and be all then iPhone will not be popular. The Google Pixel line and iPhone do well because of software and support.

Xiaomi, Huawei, poco or whatever phone to come out with mega specs are useless if they are not supported and if the software is shit. My Pixel 2 runs buttery smooth and i can still get updates and support. Samsung is slightly better with their flagship phones.

Can that be said for the like of Xiaomi (e.g. update debacle with Mi A2)? The answer is no because they release so many models in a year which all need support. No point buying a phone that won't last 2+ years because of lack of updates.
