The primary motivation for a new phone is the upgrade in camera and then the battery life. I prefer to upgrade in between 1 to 2yr., mostly around 18 months time. Added features are another plus.

Three years is pretty reasonable and so it doesn’t surprise me it’s the most common response. At the 3 year mark the battery seems to hold less charge. I’ve personally owned the Galaxy S4, S7 and now the S10e although if the S13 doesn’t come in a non curved screen variant I will probably switch to another brand a couple years from now.

RazrFlip, 05 Jul 2020When battery life drops below a day. If you aren't at ... moreThat's why many tech-savvy said that 'wireless charging' is not practical a.k.a gimmick features.
Moreover, for this gimmick,u lose 3 important features which previously present; durability (metal vs. glass back), comfort (grippy & fingerprint resistant vs. slippery & fingerprint magnet), & usability (faster heat dissipation vs. throttle-rich).
Not to mention that battery are sensitive to heat, which will affect its cycle.
In short, SO MANY DRAWBACKS for just one gimmick feature is ABSURD imho

The next poll should ask :
1. Which is your favorite brand and why?
2. Which price point and phone segment/category is the best?
3. What do you expect from brands in this time?
4. What are you looking forward to on the industry?
5. What do you see as a disruptor of the market currently? (Aside from Covid Pandemic, something that makes sales drop)
AND THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION :
6. What features do you really need or should be done and what should not be done by manufacturers? (so they can make the right phone)

After 3 years the battery of my Galaxy S7 was at a point that it required charging every 4-6 hours even if I didn't used it, reducing the screen resolution and everything on "dark mode" was no solace anymore. So I got me a 10 Plus with 512 Gb. storage, to last for another 3 years of service.

Poco, please make a device like this :
-6,3 inch IPS LCD 600 nits 60hz
-Snapdragon 855+ with Liquid Cool
-4500mah battery with 30W charging
-Dual Rear Cameras (Main and ultrawide, or maybe add an telephoto, not an Gimmicky 5/2 MP Macro/Depth Cam)
-Up to 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage
-Polycarbonate body with Aluminum/Plastic Frame
-Price it under $400, it will be a killer phone, stop rebranding phones!

2019-2020 Had like this:
Note 9, Note 10 Plus, iPhone 11 Pro Max, back to Note 10 Plus.
Am curious how the Note will behave if I keep it for 1 year as a main phone.

Alex 94, 05 Jul 2020Normal changing should be every 3-4 years. How many times u... moreI buy midrange phones and try to keep them for at least three years. My laptop costs about 5 times more than my phone.
I was able to use flagship phone for two years it was fun but productivitywise it can't do anything that my midrange phone can't.

Changed it this spring, and _only_ because my previous Galaxy SII broke irrevocably. I'll let you work out how many years it is since the SII came out...

After some time it became obvious, 999$€ every 2-3years is way worse than getting cheap year old flagship or lower midrange every 10months.
Tech changes every half to 1/3 a year now by many brands bringing multiple products.
Realme X50 5G can do for 200-250$€ what was not possible few months before, 5G, superwide+tele, great speed and processing,... This is just one example, 150mp phones incoming, even waiting 10months is long if timed badly.
Point is to not pay more than you can afford, so the cheaper phone and latest upgrades is way more fun.

Dunnowhatuntouse, 05 Jul 2020if you want the best performance possible on a laptop you... moreLOL, what did u smoke, dude?
U talk about "best performance", but then mentioned i9?
99% laptop-savvy know that Intel's crown of 'best performance' processor was taken by Ryzen since 2017; before that, Intel still upped AMD in CPU, but now it lose both in CPU & IGP, not to mention Intel still couldn't catch up with AMD in battery efficiency even after 3 years.
Now that AMD has taken over the top spot of 'best performance' processor, the MSRP of 'best performance' laptop has been cheaper than Intel-powered ones.
So, yes, the argument of 'best performance' laptop has not even reached 2000$ still stands valid.
