LG's rollable smartphone to arrive early next year with a BOE screen

02 July 2020
It's definitely interesting that the company isn't going to use displays made in-house.

LG is one of the world's greater LCD and Oled manufacturers... LG is NOT one of the world's greater phone manufacturers... Announces phone made by LG with BOE screen. Me: t'makes sense....

We're getting closer to have a phone similar to Shirai Kuroko's.

Looks good lets see how it turns out

Perhaps the choice of BOE panel is to save some cost to make the phone well below $2000.
If it wasn't the issue, then they wouldn't even bother with panels from other manufacturers. Heck, they're already using their very own P-OLED screens on their flagship devices, so the quality of their displays isn't the problem here.
It's an unfortunate turn of events, but I guess in order to keep the price a little easier to digest, they had to cut some corners on this part, instead of sky-rocketing price tags.

Shui8, 03 Jul 2020Wait what? A screen supplier company using other branded... moreI don't know the whatever reason either.

But it seems that while LG is very successful with their OLED TV panel (as I remember, nearly all, if not all, OLED TVs on the market use LG's panel) they can't transfer that success to phone screen panel.

Maybe somebody here knows something about that?

Maybe because LG Display will use all its output to serve Apple for the iPhone screens, as it is rumored

Idk why i'm bit worried about this.
I hope this doesn't end up like flexpai or Mate X.

LG so innovative and maybe original.

They should be appreciated enough and much more!

Hope it dues better than the folding screen.

And it could maybe forgo touch on the extended screen and make it convenient for one hand use. Could make for a smart new way to operate.

Yeah, why not, I can see the appeal with that, but just don't forget to NOT make it so forced mainstream, like the punch hole, that it over saturate the market and leave no alternatives other than that, okay ?

A screen supplier company using other branded supplier on its product?

I thought LG already has the technology on the TV prototype they showed last year.

That looks amazing. Is the rollable screen a touchscreen or does it just show content? It looks hard to use as a touchscreen.
