CristianEW, 12 Jul 2020it not good but barely acceptable , maybe SONY shouldn'... moreThe battery is actually okay for that size given that this has the 3.5mm jack, with a 1/1.7" camera, and a 6.5 inch screen, take some manufacturer for example Apple with a 6.5 inch screen and a smaller camera with no 3.5mm and the same size of battery , take realme x2 pro with the same screen size and battery and a 3.5mm
There is no excuse that the battery is not okay especially for a phone under 8mm when all phones I mentioned above are above 8mm

I use the xperia xz2 premium. Right now there is a problem with charging, that is, it does not charge. Charging a bit later than usual, 8 hours is not full. What happened?

Are you stupid? XZ3 is the first Android 9 out of the box phone 2 years ago. There's just 1 update in os so far after its release.

Once again with Sony underwhelming battery life ruining a potentially awesome phone. Why not just stick a 5,000mah battery in there?
They're run by morons and anyone who defends them is a blind fanboy. They're struggling to sell their phones yet they refuse to learn.
At least they make the PlayStation and good TVs

Battery endurance is the ABSOLUTE most important aspect in a phone and this was the simple case of "if only the phone had a bigger battery". When they revealed the phone's battery, my first thought was: "they better figure a way to tame that X55 chip" because that thing has been a battery nightmare this whole year in 865 devices.
4,500mAH would have been borderline but this phone would have TOTALLY benefited from a 5,000mAH battery. Plain and simple. For the price tag, it should have gotten a bigger battery (don't care about hyper-fast charging).

I think over time the batterylife of the Xperia 1ii will be much better you cant expcept top notch batterylife . That comes over time i think after 2 mounth the betteylife will be very good becourse sony will update the X1ii . But 83 hours is good enough for to begin with . My X1ii have no problems with batterylife so far.

Plus, you couldn't refute any of my points. Besides, what I stated was not my opinion, but my observation. With that said, if I had to give my opinion and choose between the S20+ and the Xperia 1 ii, I think I'd go with Sony = much better ergonomics, cleaner software, headphone jack, Cinema/Photo Pro Apps. Though, for 2020 I'd actually recommend the OnePlus 8 Pro before either (cheaper, more available than Sony, arguably the better camera setup, much better software support and custom roms).

There you can see the Xperia 1ii is a decent long endurance phone (12h 35m) when it comes to the Video Playback Test. And that's because Sony's software reduces the framerate and the resolution automatically for you, and with the larger battery now it helps heaps. This is using a HD video playback at 24fps, through the viSerBatt App.
Whereas the Samsung S20+ doesn't dynamically scale resolution and framerate like Sony's software. On the most efficient setting (1080p/60Hz) I think it can do over 21h 00m. Bumping it upto +1440p/60Hz, and the battery time is still a respectable 17h 09m. And going further to 120Hz (1080p) it sustains 13h 30m on the test. Using a Custom Mod, you can force the phone to the most draining setting (+1440p/120Hz) and I think the time will drop to 13h 00m.
So the Samsung at it's "worst" is still going to last a little longer than the Sony at its "best". The most obvious culprit of this, is the display. And by that I mean the display technology... the Sony one is much more impressive when it comes to accuracy, but the Samsung one is more efficient. They share near identical internals. And both have software that was developed over multiple months for stability and longevity, so this might be a factor but in most likelihood is not the root cause (this aint 2012 anymore).
PS: The LG V60 can achieve a 23h 31m on that test, and it's ranked as #5 on that list.

XZ1, XZ1 Compact, XZ3 have ... moreTheir support is let's say modest, the first year is pretty good and the second is middling with usually a security update every second month for flagships and a security update quarterly for midrangers, however saying that the XZ1(C), XZs and XZ3 only received one update is not quite correct, technically they did because of how they were released to the market but theoretically and factually Sony updates devices in batches for example: the XZP and XZ1(C) or the XZ and XZs or lastly the XZ2(P/C) and XZ3 are counted as one batch, and despite the later released models in these batches physically only have one firmware to their name the devices in their batch did receive two updates and there are actually throwaway Nougat firmwares for the XZ1, not quite sure if you can find MM for the XZs or Oreo for the XZ3 but my guess is that with enough search you can, now obviously Sony is really wrong about their statement of "two upgrades per high end devices", doesn't matter how we look at that that's factually wrong, what would be right is "two updates per flagship batches" and they really should've clarified this long ago since there's no official mention about these device batches just about anywhere, you have to look closely for yourself which is definitely not right.
