AnonD-754814, 10 Jul 2020Actually your gaming notebook claim isn't really true.... moreAh, they must have come down in price somewhat then. I only did a quick look at soem of those alienware type machines, all of which were around the £2000 - £3500 bracket.

I get your point though, I personally don't see the appeal of any GAMING focused machine's outside of dedicated consoles, I get that there are those who do however.

          Where are you from !

Now it's proven that you're real Armature when it comes to Tech.
Have you ever heard of AndroidAuthority ? When you talk about smartphone focused tech reviewer/website company their name comes on top.
Gary Sims is among one of their top guys.
Even if you take that out of count, still he had decade of experience in software engineering sector.

About youtube reviewers, Most of them are regular guys/journalists.
          Very few are pro.
You can definitely count Gary Sims among one of them.

Also you're saying you don't trust AnandTech at all.
What is you point ? I admit their reviews aren't the most legit out there but they're good enough.

Now one thing I agree that Notebookcheck does very fair and good review.
But they're mainly focused on PC side. They don't really do any dedicated tests of smartphones. But you can trust what they write in the detailed review of popular smartphones. They also don't do much of a cross smartphone comparison.

10% clock speed improvement in only one core out of total 8 core.
So, you can expect only around 2-4% overall performance improvement.

It was an example. As here everyone is talking about performance that's why I've found it more relevant to give Z series example. Also isn't he the guy who was talking about 1000$ mainboard earlier ? To play 4k@60 one need an expensive mainboard. Hilarious !
Now he was talking about expensive PC build price in his country ?
So I had to give that example. I don't understand why did it feel illogical to you !

SD865+ and 10% increase is not much compared to how much cost research and developement.
Its like when we add 20 more notebook batteries to a Tesla Car and the range of the car increases from 400 to 440 kilometers.
Its same bad thing like 16GB ram in a cell phone when 8GB is more than enough to run everything.

[deleted post]GAMING smartphones will find a niche, small though that may be. It might grow in time, it likely will not.

This is like the world of Gaming laptops, the market is there, but again very niche. It's never going to be mainstream though, that is because even the average consumer knows that to get the GAMING focused benefits, the design has to necessarily be compromised in other areas.

They will simply draw the conclusion that they can buy a standard laptop, which features the same CPU, GPU, RAM and storage configuration, for cheaper. It might not do gaming to the same super high level of the GAMING laptop, but it will do it well enough, and have other benefits too. i.e. smaller, lighter, not feature that stupid, overly audacious, neon obsessed, cyberpunk-esk design language they seem to put on all these GAMING focused products.

AnonD-754814, 10 Jul 2020I wouldn't be so sure. No matter how good the build ... moreI mean look, despite the silly claims of the various Anonymous's on here, The truth is always going to be somewhat less clear than they are capable of considering. Best leave the:
"I love Android so I'm super smart, you like Apple so you are a sheep" type's to stu in that level of simplistic juvenile thinking. Any argument beyond that simply confuses (and therefore angers) them, so it's a pointless endeavour.

Soc's are extraordinarily complex pieces of tech, how they interact, and process software is just as complicated. Gary Sims for instance (of Gary Explains and Android Authority), using a speed test program of his own design concludes that the A13 and 865 are practically neck and neck, though he does still give the overall GPU advantage to the A13.

He also states that across a range of benchmarks suites the A13 will generally post higher scores, but that is not always indicative of real-world results.

Ultimately Gay's conclusion is that whilst Apple has generally had a significant lead for several generations, Qualcomm have with the 865 closed the gap to a point where they can trade blows.

Considering this was written on an Android focused website, I can only imagine the confusion and anger it caused the average (android obsessed) reader, seeing as how Gary did not draw the following conclusions:

                          1. The 865 is better.
                          2. Snapdragons have always been better.
                          3. Apple are not capable of doing anything impressive ever ever ever.

Steam must have been coming out of their ears on that one. Same when Jerry Hildenbrand of Android Central on the release of the Iphone SE 2020 stated ‘The cheapest iPhone now has a more powerful processor than the most expensive Android’. The Android crowd again must have been hitting the walls in uncontrolled rage.

Like I said the truth is more complex than the ‘Android good, Apple BAAAAD!’ types on here are capable of realising.

A SoC performance is a SoC performance.

Apples GPUs are generation ahead of Qualcomm.
So, Unless Apple A13 SoC throttle very badly there is no chance any Gaming phone with SD SoC is going to beat it.

I have mentioned it before, just making things clear,
Games in different phones run differently even in different android handset,

                              It's highly possible that
The graphics quality of the highest setting on a latest ASUS ROG phone might be same as the medium setting graphics on the latest iPhone.
