IF Apple/Samsung REALLY cares about environment. why don't they have a trade-in program for their old phone, instead they 'refurbished' them and sell them 'like new' device with 'only' 50-100$ price differences.

They can also bundled the charger outside the box and give options to customers whether they want the charger or not, instead of FORCING its potential customers to buy separate charger brick which cost almost $50 (depends on the place where u buy it)

U know, u talk like other people are 'kid' who don't think about what is good or bad,but the truth is, the one who need to 'grow up' is U; stop defending joke-like 'environment' reasoning of greedy company when they NEVER care about it SINCE THE FIRST TIME THEY MAKE THEIR PRODUCTS!

Well the charger will be available along with the Mobile or we all have to search charger that is compatible with the unit that is bought. Like searching for Mobile cases every where. The Mobile giants are becoming greedy day by day. Apple has no limit to grab the money from public. charging a device almost 7 times more than the cost.

Victor Tayguara, 12 Jul 2020It's absurd, this is a movement that has a unique reas... moreno, it not absurd. In fact, it's very logical to do so and it has taken companies more than 10 years to start implementing this strategy. It should have been done ages ago.

It's all to reduce electronic waste, unneeded manufacturing cost, and, most importantly, reduce carbon emissions, plastic pollution, and help the environment/planet.

Soon enough, you will not be selling your old devices with included accessories because it won't be needed. Everyone has chargers and headphone, no need to get extra ones for each device they own.

Can't really understand how some people don't see things for what they are, and instead just focus on personal things that are and will forever be, irrelevant.

Qwerty2020, 13 Jul 2020Hey, what a smart@$$ kid you are! Haven't heard abo... moreIt's better for the environment. No one cares about personal, specific situations as it makes no sense to do so. Use what you need, that's all. Stop thinking your needs and those those puny $5 extra that you MIGHT have to pay once every 2-3 years, are more important than the countless chargers and accessories that are being manufactured and end up in a drawer for a few years, then in the trash because they're too old and slow by the time you actually need to use them.

So yeah, no charger and no accessories included with smartphones, tablets, etc. is the way to go. And it is 100% fair, correct, and logical to do so.

Now it's time to grow up and start thinking of the greater good rather than personal and potential (but almost never materialised) "benefits" that come with bundling things together when not necessary.

Haven't heard about 'no-longer-working' charging brick?
What about this: I bought a phone a year/2 years ago, then later bought another one 2 years later because of many reasons; why can't I use the old charging brick until it stopped working and keep the 'new' charging for use later when the old one broken, so I won't have to pay 50$ for a stupid charging brick?

Let me tell u; the charging brick, no matter whether it's QC or not, only cost $5 (BOM), BUT have u see ANY separately sold ORIGINAL charging cost $10/15?
Not only charging brick, even the cable only cost $2-3, but when sold separately, it sill cost at least $20.
Don't let me start mentioning that the 'long lost' wired earphone actually cost $4-10 (price varies depending on the quality), while you have to at least pay 5x the BOM cost (the hi-quality ones like LG Quad Beat, or Samsung's JBL cost more that 50$ when u bought it in their store!)

It's absurd, this is a movement that has a unique reason, sell accessories for customers, in way that we are forced to buy.

When o sell a phone to other person I sell it with all accessories that come in the box, if a buy a new one, I don't have de old one.

It bothers me that the most tech portal are supporting this, someone is receiving cash in return to this nonsense..

A charger for the manufacturer cost 5 USD, an earpod around 4.

The prices will drop 9 USD? I prefer paying 9 USD than have to bought it separately and paying shipping fees and taxes.

If the phone I bought supports 45W charge but it comes with a 18W or 25W I won't complain. That is enough for me given the capacity of new phones and the charging time won't make you crazy.

Motorola has done it, apparently Nokia has done it, battery bank makers have done it, wireless headset makers have done it... Apple is *rumoured* to be doing it, and somehow it is their fault. Samsung is *rumoured* to be doing it, and they are ‘copying’.

Theoretically you would have to pay for a charger once in your life; a high quality, standards-compatible one. And save hundreds of thousands of tonnes of electronic waste annually. An added benefit is this would kill proprietary chargers good for just one brand or model. Only those who do not own a single capable power brick need reply.

OnePlus is already following in the footsteps of Apple, and will soon be another manufacturer to follow the trend of removing the charger as well from the box, so you will soon get boxes with just the phone, and a couple of warranty cards. To buy the charger, it will be say $30 to $40 extra. Then some manufacturers won't even include the damn cable with it. So another $10 on the cable.

Whichever manufacturer you choose, they're all gonna follow apple eventually. Today it's Samsung, tomorrow it will be OnePlus, then Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi, LG, will start doing the same.
