Forced ID validation prior to clicking a link in an SMS or webpage will cut spam and SMS 'errors' but it will lock out the Users while the hackers are in the device. Some people learned the hard way to check emails, some of those same people will need to be retrained to do the same with their phones.

Fappening victims had weak passwords. No amount of security patch could help them.
Someone can easily be hacked using phising link. No amount of security update can prevent that.
This isn't Windows where a proper firewall or Antivirus protects against vulnerabilities.
I'll say this again, security updates are overrated.
They should never be a criteria for ditching a particular phone.
Same as Microsoft telling you to be updated to latest version to prevent vulnerabilities.
Plenty of people never updated their windows security patches and did fine.
While people with latest updates were easily hacked.
An OS is as secure as its end user.
BTW, next time use an ad blocker on your phone.
In my decade of experience using several Android phones, never saw an ad whether it is an app, browser or otherwise.

Okay, I understand what your saying, but 2 years ago, I was on these forums with my previous S6 (support had recently expired).
Even though I never clicked on any advert on the page, a pop up malware ad acted like I had clicked on it & gone onto it's website, where some BS message says You've won an iPhone, the phone froze, constant vibration, unresponsive to any attempts to power off, I managed to power off after 3 minutes, but I'd constantly get these pop ups repeating the above.
I cleared cookies, wiped cache, (although I haven't tried factory reset), I installed antivirus (I think called Lookout) which helped but whenever I turned the phone on I'd catching it surfing the web redirecting from website to website, crap I'd never visit Hollywood, fashion, celebrity gossip BS.
It's now a backup, I use it from time to time, it cannot be trusted.
First time I ever noticed anything was in 2017 @ the Google Playstore, I tried to download VLC, but it redirected to download Candy Crush.
Also around the same time the IR Blaster app. was playing up with ads etc.

They're are a few good quality security websites that are really informative covering latest threats/ exploits & can even help you safeguard/ patch against or remove viruses/ malware, I've done this in the past on my work PC Microsoft Windows.
But these websites show that there are viruses that even after wiping everything & factory resets, it's still there, I was also surprised to see alot of Apple vulnerabilities recently fixed, zero day exploits.
I just don't want my device or myself to be compromised.

Unless a group of hackers specifically target you using the security hole or vulnerability (if it exists) which is not fixed through a security patch, you have nothing to worry about. The likelihood of such a thing happening is 0.00001%.
So lack of security patches don't affect the end user in the real world.
Ppl and several businesses used Intel chipsets for years without issues despite the Spectre & Meltdown vulnerabilities. As I said, unless a team of hackers specifically target you exploiting that security loophole, you are safe.
Ppl continue to fall for marketing gimmicks where they feel if they don't have the latest security patch, they are vulnerable or worse the phone becomes unusable after 2 years. These are the same people that can be hacked using a simple phising link and they are worried about vulnerabilities in the system that are less likely a threat.

They become so gready they don't realise how close they are to fall into the abis. The price policy of the last 2 years helped a lot of unknown manufacturers to rise and become real competitors like Xiaomi and many others. They will fail - Nokia stile! :)))

If you want to get more costumer use only snapdragon 865 plus for sure your sale will increase.. Samsung you didnt listen to the costumer it will be your fault if huawei will catch up to you.. Screen camera battery.. Everything is good except exynos chipset

Very unfortunat... moreAs much as i hate what they have done with this double standard by now (S10 being the most affected due to differing CPU fab size between the Exynos and Snapdragon variants), we have to give them the benefit of doubt now because there is a chance that Note 20 will come with a new and more efficient Exynos.
If not, well, I see no issue in not buying a new phone this year.
I'm assuming the Huawei Google Apps situation will not continue forever, so Samsung has only a limited time to get their flagship sh1t together.

Especially Malaysia, Singapore, Phillipines, Thailand or Indonesia.
As long as u can hold 1 of these in your hands, even if the battery life sux and can only use for 1 hour, ppl in these countries are too cash rich to differentiate the bad from the better.

Still Exynos? It's a hard pass for me. Very unfortunate because the rest of the hardware looks amazing.
