Was this am intentional ploy to force users to buy new phones later down the line? I think so. However. Gs3 is my first android and it has killer specs better than galaxy nexus however nexus has ics and will most likely get jelly bean so why cant other phones with similar specs get ics? It makes no sense. If my gs3 doesnt get jelly bean it will be my first and last android. I wont even mention apple. The brand is a mess. Its for sheep and kids who cant tell the difference between a great phone and a toy. I'm not a fan of any company and I've used my fair share of phones. I distinctly refuse to buy apple mainly because at the price I can get better for less. I didnt buy android because I didnt want to enter a pissing contest to see who has the most specs. Windows phone 8 looks very promising so if jelly bean doesnt impress I will double down on windows 8 as I have it installed on my alienware.

Your're complaining about fragmentation and free to buy market. So take your money and buy a smartphone of your choice!!!! lil'kids!!! I'ts a free world and everyone chooses it's destiny, I chose Nexus!

Hell fire a few minor things like a new wallpaper and google announces a whole new O/S..Same with ICS a few visual changes new search thingy DOES NOT equate to renaming your O/S.
So i change my wallpaper or theme but i would not embarrass myself to all my mates by announcing i have a brand new phone.Fragmemtation is allover the place with Android and now back with IOS..I cannot keep up with it and same goes for windows..Life is short enough without keep changing things..
I dont mean hardware changes with better camera better GPU i mean all these visual changes..Same with my Email they keep changing the layout like they keep doing in shops causing upset..Why dont they leave stuff alone changing stuff round with out your permission..OK give people choice but swapping layouts just impedes on progress learning new layouts.
To sum up ,fragmentation brings stress and confusion and helps no-one..I always change any product for better faster, better quality hardware NOT because its got a new colour or they have changed something round..

Nobody has a gun to your head saying "you will have an Android phone and you'll like it" that's the beauty of living in a free world, with your own money you can purchase whatever smartphone makes you happy, we live in a world of choice and so long as you don't regret the choice you make it is the right choice for you.
Just because I don't want an iPhone doesn't mean I want to live in a world where I couldn't choose one if I wanted one.
This OS rivalry is getting stupid.

The ner... moreI think the problem with your argument here is, especially likening Winmo 8 and say, ICS or JB is that Lumia 900s have only been on sale a few months, literally... and there's been a huge multi-million pound marketing campaign on it, and nowhere up until about a week ago did it say "not compatible with the next version coming out in 4-6 months time..."
And that's the real difference... the differences between Gingerbread and ICS aren't THAT great and there's at least a year separating their release... and the changes are minor... sure it causes a degree of fragmentation - but nowhere near the difference between Winmo 7.8 and 8...
What you have with lack of being able to upgrade to Winmo 8 is basically a misleading of customers and M$ / Nokia losing a hell of a lot of customer faith over this... Don't mistake the severity this c0ck-up on their part - this could be a deal-breaker for so many... early adopters are understandably outraged, and anyone even thinking of getting a Lumia 900 won't touch it with a barge pole... and will people in the future worry that Winmo 8 won't be compatible with 9? For Nokia who is on the brink of bankruptcy and M$ pushing an OS that lacks behind the major 2... it's not a good position to be in...

Now my comrads. This is what TRUE fragmentation is. The nerve of android and ios users bashing windows phone for not getting windows 8 support for multiple cores when android and apple devices with similar specs cant even get the latest software. This is the true crux of your fanboyism. No I do not own windows phone but atleast they get the windows 8 experience with 7.8. Tell that to gingerbread users. I just bought the gs3 and have no regrets but I would be pissed if even with all this hardware I cant get jelly bean. I want the change logs and features of jelly bean. Will it be a revolutionary change or just an update like ios? Will it support up to 64 theoretical cores? Thats the reason I bought into the whole android concept in the first place. Being a proud user of meego I will say now. If jelly bean doesnt impress me I'm getting a pureview lumia

Android should be like Apple IOS and should just post one major update of Android software verson each year. Like this year Ice Cream Sandwhich & next year Jelly B, etc, etc... However they cannot probably do that as Apple would sue Android for copying their confidential policy of software update only on an annual basis.
