I am expecting Samsung M51 to change this perception very soon.
It is also expected that LG will launch several models in India to compete with Samsung (Hopefully LG will get specification and pricing right unlike W-series)
And Asus Zenfone 7 is expected to compete favorably against Oneplus 8.
Add to that the government policy and anti-chinese sentiment, I would expect the sales figure of next few quarters to change a lot. Better late than never, India is finally understanding the real threat of the her biggest enemy.

ThePong, 19 Jul 2020Indian consumers are extremely reliant on Chinese products ... moreWell in Budget and Mid Range segment in India, Chinese phone manufacturers have best specs, cameras and build quality, yes build quality is better than Samsung and others, only Nokia has better build quality but often there products have such weak specs there category seems budget with mid-range pricing. Xiaomi & Realme just offer devices which are leagues better than other manufacturers in this segment, that's why it is hard to not choose the best device from your hard earned money.
PS: Premium mid range and Flagship segment is just not accessible to most of the Indian population and to those it is, again Oneplus is the best choice. Apple flagships have outrageous prices and Samsung delivers there flagships with higher prices and subpar Exynos chips.

KPL, 19 Jul 2020If you can merge Xiaomi and POCO sales then why not include... moreMight as well go the whole way and add up Realme, Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus and iQoo too. Realme and Oppo sell enough to make the Top 5 by themselves. Poco probably sold less than 10% of Xiaomi's sales and would have ended up in "Other" otherwise. Makes sense to add them up.

After the border standoff between the two countries there is a anti Chineese sentiment and boycott of their products. This may spill over to other Asian countries who've had similar skirmishes. Maybe an economic boycott may be a way to bring down the c c p.
This may be a good time for Samsung and iPhone to move smartphone manufacturing to india. And get better at pricing too.

This entire year sales will go down
And pick up when 5g starts to roll out in big cities
Also this is Samsung's big chance to gain market share in India with budget and midrange phones. They are not upto it

reality is there is no alternative for Chinese goods for its value for money and quality...India needs its own home grown companies to make for it...because other American, Japanese Korean nor European products can justify their pricing in Indian economy...

Samsung has learned no lessons. The Chinese are beating the shit out of them and they are still living in their dreamworld of charging premium in phones that offer inferior specs. There is a Boycott China movement that could have taken advantage of to crush the Chinese companies or at least make a comeback. But those marketing blokes who are getting fat salaries for doing nothing have blown it.

The border situation has certainly dented Chinese companies' image in India.
Overall, I would say it is a loss for China in long term, but I guess PLA would differ in opinion
