All other components get more expensive.
New components are made every year, so there is no time enough to drop price.

My galaxy phone belongs to the other 20%. First fall from a 1 meter height and it cracked in 3 different places and broke the display in 2 parts haha.

G Force, 23 Jul 2020New gimmick Lol, Gimmicks are just innovations that are yet to be realized by everyone. Gorilla Glass was invented in the 50's or 60's but they all don't see a use so it's a gimmick until 2007 where Apple helped make it a standard. Did you know, a second camera on the back was called a gimmick until LG and Samsung contributed Ultrawide and Telephoto sensors instead of a depth and B&W sensor.

It is good to have new durable glass. But anyway I never drop my phone at all and I always use screen protector and case.

Say goodbye to phone cases and protective screens. Well, not yet but we'll get there sooner rather than later.

I'm sure Sony improves and adds more things on the next Xperia 1 like a 21:9 4K display showing its real resolution, bigger and more optimized battery, headphone jack with a better DAC and some stereo speakers that would score Excellent on this website's review. Sony's UI is close to stock too and it's a classy looking phone. For that phone to be a glass sandwich, Gorilla Glass Victus would definitely help. That glass could be strong enough to warrant an easy MIL-STD-810G.

I grew up with the Apple lifestyle to get the latest flagship as possible and I'll keep up with that lifestyle for every two years since that's the usual amount of years of Planned Obsolescence in Android flagships. I had a Nokia 8 from 2017, RoG Phone 2 from 2019 and I'll get a new one in 2021. If 2021 is not good for me, I think I can go LineageOS on the RoG Phone 2 until I found the best one I wanted in 2022.

Phone prices aren't coming down. Over the past decade, they've only gradually increased, and i see that trend continuing going forward as well...

The good part is that you're no longer required to buy flagships to get a good smartphone experience. Even midrangers these days are excellent & provide all the specs & features you'd need.

I'd dare to say the foldable phones will be using this and other high end flagships.
