Here's why current WP phones won't get Windows Phone 8

I think anyone that bought a windows 7 phone knowing its hardware limitations
Are stupid to think that Microsoft was going to keep those limitations in a major OS update.
When will people lean, unless you like being a Tec guinea pig you don’t ever buy the first release of any new OS. Things only get great after about the 3rd release.
Microsoft learned from there mistakes in WP7 and did a good job of correcting it in WP8
But don’t be fooled again. There are lessons to be learned in WP8 as well.
WP9 is the OS to watch out for if you are the kind of person that don’t like changing phones often.
I’m happy WP7 phones are not getting WP8 because if they were it would mean
The improvement to the OS was just cosmetic and in my book that would still be considered a patch to a first release and not really a next version of a new OS.
Making new phone with only small tweaks from the prevision on is what is a real rip-off.
I don’t want to buy a new phone to get something I could have gotten in a patch.
I want major changes in a positive direction. And that is exactly what you are getting in WP8
I’m a HD2 WM6.5 user and I’m now starting to see a reason to switch over to WP with what WP8 is offering because WP7 was really a joke.

NOKIA = No. Offense. King. Is. Android.
Seriously. when Nokia threw Meego out the window, that was it. Nokia is not dead yet, but they have too little room for error.
Honestly, I have fond memories of Nokia: From my COOL Nokia3210 back in 1999, to the last Nokia I had in 2009 (E71), and several Nokia models in between (for the record, I had 3 WHITE Nokia 6300 because I loved that bitch so much, but I kept misplacing it.)
Times have changed. It's the Finnish company's fault. They were on top almost all the time, they probably thought they were untouchable. Stopped innovating like they have in the past. Suddenly, there's iOS then Android. Even BB, for a time, grabbed a piece from Nokia's pie.
Btw, if you think iPhone is overpriced, I had a Nokia 8800 Arte that was damn overpriced! Now, I have Samsung Galaxy S2 and can't afford an S3!
Well good luck, Nokia. Could have gone Android like I was hoping for but no. No. No. No. Kia.

AnonD-37453, 26 Jun 2012Windows phone 8 from Microsoft will kill android from Googl... moreI think this post is a bit extreme and a little deranged in it’s conclusions to be honest, it’s more likely that Windows 8 will offer us consumers a more credible 3rd choice than its predecessor at the top of the mobile OS market.

Jon (Swe), 26 Jun 2012I do understand that some WP7 owners will feel abadonned in... moreBut how old is the lumia900? Just 3 months for global version, is it correct? Is that fair that you just bought your brand new flagship then 3 months later it's a dead end?

It looks as though Microsoft has tried Apple's approach i.e. Static UI, Exact hardware Requirements etc. and has seen that it's not working.
Now it looks like they are ready to try a little of the Android approach i.e. flexible UI & multiple hardware requirements.
After all, Apple does what it does very well and it doesn't pay to try to emulate them because let's face it, as good a job as you might do with the hardware and software side of things, you can never emulate all those mindless drones who spend days (if not weeks) queuing outside Apple store's, forsaking the elements and any current business they have going on in they're lives just to get the latest Apple product (which may or may not be that much of an improvement on their current devices)
I like what I'm hearing about windows 8, I think this perhaps coupled with Nokia's pureview tech may finally start making Windows competitive again in the mobile market.

AnonD-27765, 26 Jun 2012Android is ugly. Doesn't deserve to get into the Nokia hard... moreAndroid is fully customizable. If you don't like it, you just try a different skin, or even a completely different ROM.
Other than that, apparently you don't even know what 'ugly' is. Perhaps you should take a look in the mirror. What a revelation what will be for you.

Very smart Idea from Microsoft and their agent (Stephan Flop) to kill Nokia and then buy it.
I would blame the Finnish for offering their country flagship to such spy agent like Elop.
Finns, you destroyed our best brand.. With your carelessness you damaged the best Phone manufacturer in the world.
Nokia market share will fall dramatically in the next few months ,, by the end of this year if not sooner, Nokia will be ready for sale...
Please do accept my warmest sympathy our Nokia fans..NOKIA IS DYING.
I'm really so sad and disappointed, but who cares ?

I must remind u that android is popular w... more"I must remind u that android is popular..."
There was a political party between 1920 and 1945 who were popular too. Doesn't mean the people who voted for them were right. Just the same as people who use one designated OS are right. There's no right or wrong, just preference. If people choose to use WP8 then that's their choice.
I use android. I used to use Windows 6.5 & Windows 6 before that.
It's a preference. No need to tell people to STFU just because you have a differing opinion to them.
Fact of the matter is, people are going to use which ever OS suits them and their needs best.

Anonymous, 26 Jun 2012Android is ugly? I must remind u that android is popular w... moreAndroid IS ugly, this is coming from Android fanatic like myself. I don't talking about launcher, they're customizable to an endless point, but here I'm talking about the whole package, especially the apps. Many Android apps aren't designed within Holo rules, making inconsistency of user experience, hell even Instagram or Viber design is just a blatant port from iOS version, so does many other apps. This is hurting my eyes, but I still love Android endless capabilities that can't be found on other smartphone OS.

Instead of naming it WP7.8 MS should have announced that existing phones will get WP8 upgrade albeit the hardware dependent ones. People wouldn't have complained then. Just like what Apple or Google does.
With proper sense once cannot expect to have the NFC support for their existing phone, now will they complain. MS just got burned for being too honest to their customers
