Qualcomm announces Quick Charge 5: 100W+ speed lets you fill a battery to 50% in 5 minutes

27 July 2020
A full charge will take only 15 minutes. The new standard runs 10°C cooler than QC4 while delivering 4 times the power to the battery.

Anonymous, 27 Jul 2020Ppl that go to internet forum ofter change phone yearly. ... moreWhenever they do have a problem with their phone, they look it up on Internet for solutions and if other people have the same problem.
No need to visit reddit or some forum.
Google search at your fingertips in enough.

Samsung, Apple, Sony might have lost mAh coz they are using inferior charging technology which heats up phone considerably during Charging (as high as 18 deg C depending upon manufacturers). VOOC stays cool at 3 deg C increment in Temps even while Charging and using the phone.

I have given all the links before as well but Sony brand boy like you won't know what premium fast charging tech is.
Not everyone wants to spend 1000$ for weak outdated 18W charging.

        They are geeks.
Regular costumers do not even know about reddit, support page forum etc ...

Check on reddit, easy to find ppl that claim their phones lost more than 500mAh within first year. Mainly samsung and apple.
        Now imagine chinese brands.

Same way ipads have had better charging than iphones for years.

There is no such thing called "Standard compliant fast charging" because there is no accepted standard for fast charging. In the field of fast charging, Qualcomm is not in a position to set a standard, because Qualcomm is a follower, not a leader. "Quick Charge 5" will be pretty much ignored by most phone-makers on their path to ever improving advanced charging technology.

Are we seeing this trend because it’s actually do-able and because making the actual mobile device itself more efficient isn’t easy?

We’ve already got phones charging with 30-40w that already does the job well.

You think a bunch of illiterates rolled out VOOC charging not caring about consequences?
You just have a hard time digesting that Chinese are innovating more than big Brands.

I am also an ROG 2 as daily driver.
I also run a shop selling phones.
I hate it when people spread misinformation about technology.

VOOC and its other rebranded charging methodologies are safe.
Never had a customer come up to me or other sellers with phone batteries degrading due to higher Watt fast charging.
I gave all those links to shut ppl like you up since you would refuse to accept facts labeling them as anecdotal evidence.

That link said the same thing as I said. I said that super fast chargers from BBK created a stigmata that kills battery faster with such wattage.

Qualcomm prepared for this by adding regulators and backwards compatibility. Heck, we even have battery modes that help us manage it. You must be an Apple fan who just let the phone spoonfeed for you and you don't have to do anything to a phone that is meant to be user customizable in every way.

I use a RoG Phone II with a stock 18W fast charger and I charge it overnight with set regulations. I would lose faith in the tech world when a user decides to charge his phone overnight in 100W.

You are the clueless consumer who buys 1000 dollar phones with weak 18W fast charging.

                              https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/05/13/oppos-40w-fast-wired-charging-degrades-battery-faster-than-15w-charging/

There you go, independent lab testing finds degradation by 8-9% over 800 charge cycles for 65W fast charging.
With batteries easily lasting over a day owing to their big capacity, You are looking at 2-3 years of use and its producing same degradation as those phones with weak 5-10W fast charging over a similar span.

It's been almost 3 years since Huawei, OnePlus and others have provided 30W and above Fast charging.
If what you say was true, Internet forums would have been filled with battery degradation issues on these devices and a bunch of lawsuits would have been filed against these companies.
Those famous big brands simply want to milk their customers.

Chinese manufacturers are at the forefront of innovation when it comes to fast charging technology.
Keep using your 5W charger bundled with your handicapped ecosystem.
