AnonD-923722, 29 Jul 2020Phone cameras like the P40 Pro does 90% of what the Pro cam... moreI can't believe there are still some people saying this kind of BS. Phone cameras with sub-1 inch sensors will NEVER come even close to full frame when it comes to pure image quality, and their lack of ability to use the interchangeable lenses means they are also not as flexible as dedicated cameras in terms of shooting style. This is a professional camera that doesn't break a sweat shooting in ISO 25600 without resorting to any sort of multi-frame noise reduction to capture fast moving objects at night and can produce very clean 4K60 video with barely any light around. P40 Pro, or any smartphones in this regard, won't be able to touch this thing once you start taking photos above ISO 1600 and edit RAW in Lightroom.

AnonD-923722, 29 Jul 2020Phone cameras like the P40 Pro does 90% of what the Pro cam... moreBut doesn't have 5% of the digital camera's image quality.
Heck, your P40 Pro can't even capture a clean low light shot with high ISO and fast shutter speed without losing a lot of details with noise reduction.
And by fast, I mean, literally a fast shutter speed that's no slower than 1/30s.

AnonD-923722, 29 Jul 2020P40 Pro has an pro mode built in the camera app for photos ... moreLol then you really have no idea about true photography things.
Pro Mode will not give you the same level of image quality to a professional camera. Definitely not with such tiny sensors in comparison. It's all pure physics buddy.
Also, the P40 Pro's images are extremely overprocessed, which is why they look good, but that's pretty much it for how far can it go, while JPEGs of professional cameras, despite being almost similar to the P40 Pro's JPEGs, aren't even at their best yet, and post processing can turn them into wonderful photos that no other smartphone cameras could replicate even with all the advanced image processing.

Besides, you should wonder why professionals still invest for cameras like this instead of a smartphone camera if those devices were actually good enough to match mirrorless cameras' quality.
P40 Pro is about the best for what a smartphone could achieve, but a professional camera would still obliterate it, and every other smartphone cameras undoubtedly due to the huge difference in sensor size and lens. Stop dreaming about a $1000 phone beating a $3500 professional camera in image quality lol.

Weakness of each camera phone :

                1. P40 series : Not real colours in lowlight, it tends to White Balance the scene rather than preserve the hue. 4k60 video lack sharpness, stabilization not level as other super steady method, colours switching between lens, Ultrawide not wide

                2. S20 series : Autofocus (Ultra), Depth Of Field (Ultra), worse HDR than Note 10, Night mode takes up to 8 seconds, Oil Painting like detail even in daylight , Oversaturated sometimes, lackluster low light video (noisy), telephoto shots are noisy because they are cropped (S20/S20+)

                3. Iphone 11 pro : detail in medium lighting looks mushy, lowlight video not on par with Huawei, No manual night mode, no night mode on ultrawide, Ultrawide cam like an midrange one (very low quality), Photos can look flat, bad low light selfies, only 2x telephoto

                4. Vivo X50 Pro : Extreme Low Light needs night mode, not auto like Huawei's, Very low quality ultrawide, Oversaturated, Rec2020 videos, 4k60fps not stabilized, front only at 1080p30 and not even stabilized, Ultrawide very low res, Ultrawide not wide

                5. Oneplus 8 Pro : Lowlight from Ultrawide with Nightscale isn't great despite the large sensor, Nightscape lacks behind others night mode, Ultrawide not wide

                6. Iphone SE : Lowlight is noisy and lacks sharpness, No versetality, 1080p front camera

                7. Pixel 4 : No Ultrawide, Night Sight is too aggressive at brightening images so a lot of noise comes, only 2X Telephoto, Noisy images in shadow areas

                8. Realme Phones : Oversaturated colours, Nightscape not as good as other night modes, Bad ultrawide cameras, mushy details and noise on all cams (For all Realme models including their flagships)

                9. Poco F2 Pro : HDR isn't consistent, Details and noise in lowlight, Bad Low light photos even in night mode on main, no night mode on other lens, Washed put colors, Can't switch lens while recording(It is a shame considering it is an processing problem, and it uses an 865)

                10. Xiaomi : HDR isn't consistent, No Night mode on other lens, Can't switch lens while recording, Depth Of Field (108 MP), Washed out colours, Night mode not on par with others

Berserker, 29 Jul 2020Dont forget the p30 pro:DP30 Pro has colour and white balance problems with the main cam in daylight, but not in night. So you need to edit the colours in post. The Mate 30 pro has the best colours of an RYYB sensor. The P40 pro colours in daylight is like the Mate 30 Pro, very good. But at low light it tends to "White Balance" the photo which makes warm place looks cool, while cool places look warm. Hope Huawei would adress this and make the colours to be on reality rather than "White Balancing" the whole image.
