These two are enough terms to destroy any smartphone argument. They can never be DSLR/Mirrorless camera like with portable size at least for coming 30-40 years. The quality you get from smartphone even with 108MP will never match the quality you get from 12 MP DSLR camera. It all depends on sensor size. You can't use DSLR size sensor in smartphone. The reason Xperia 1 II got so much hype is also this exact reason that without any binning, they used bigger pixel sensor size than competitors.

AnonD-889996, 29 Jul 2020No one compared this to Sony's latest flagship phone? No need, 2 very different devices for different purposes. Probably the closest thing to compare the Xperia 1 II is the Sony ZV-1 but even the ZV-1 pulls ahead specially for the flip screen and ports like the 3.5mm input, hot shoe and the 1/4 mount.

Most of the people claiming bulky cameras are useless since "a smartphone can do all that and better" only ever take photos for their instagram lol.

I don't see any film crews using smartphones only. They're still using heavy equipment and unless smartphones suddenly get 30mm+ sensors and become 10x thicker to accommodate more professional camera hardware, that's not going to change.

They need to improve their smartphones. Camera tech and battery life...
