      They will never go back to 2013-14 when they were selling near 40 million devices yearly.

      There are too many brands now. Chinese brands have much cheaper costs because local suppliers, BBK sisters share R&D etc ....

      Even of Sony makes the best phone and charges 10-15% less than Samsung and Huawei, they will still sell much less.

      Huawei is too popular in China, Samsung is too strong everywhere except China, Japan and North Korea (of course).

      By the way, the chinese version of 1 ii may have 12GB.

                  If I could take a stab at it, ONLY the premium version will have 21:9 ratio while 19:9 will be with the compact and regular phones.

                  Good on Sony for returning to compact phones. We need more from Android since Huawei might even be going back to compact phones (looking at P40).

                    5.2in to 5.5in 21:9 compact! i disagree with people who nitpick 21:9 and complain about black bars when playing 16:9 when most phones have 18:9 the least... 19:9, 20:9 and some fractions... you see, there is that 21:9 on some videos... im not sure if there is a video having 19:9 or 20:9 aspect ratios...
                    i think 21:9 is just right for compacts as well... but ofc, nice to have options... like other brands?

                      Welcome I think now we should start with Sony xperia smartphone and start so that it comes back to its old place. I am still using sony's phone today

                        The idea of bigger phone is better at everything is dumb.
                        It forces ppl to get huge phone if they want the better stuff.
                        There is a rumor that S21 Ultra will have better exynos than S21/21+.

                        Except the pen, Note is no longer better than S series .....

                        If you do not need the 4K screen, you can buy 5 because all the rest is same. Like ram, storage, cameras and features.

                        Also, if they make a phone better than 1 iii, no way it costs less than $1600.
                        At this price, people are not even buy Samsung, the best seller flagships of android world.

                        Samsung and Huawei will keep selling 20, 30 or 35 mi flagships no matter what they bring.
                        Other brands do not have this luck.
                        Sony has much lower R&D budget compared to both, they cant waste money on things that will fail selling like Foldable, "Pro Premium" or tablet.

                        It is already a win the fact 1 ii is selling much more than 1 despite the extra 250,00 ...

                            If the compact version is similar in size to a XZ1c and it includes a sd card slot as well as an audio jack, I'll be willing to pay whatever, even $1000. I had a difficult time finding used XZ1c's for sale already. These are very sought after, since nobody makes these phones anymore and it's a last and best of it's kind.

                              Be sure to make compact just like the biggest flagship! Same hardware and storage. Just no wireless charger, no jack and only 1080p oled screen. A little bit bezels, so the phone can use pro cover to protect both phone and screen but without flip.

                                Please take care of battery efficiency, and overheat problem (phone cooling system).

                                  Note always better than S series, Mate always better than P series, in the same year. Not to mention iphone outs every Q4, means Sony need to disrupt their market segment. Look what happen when Sony keep repeating the same strategy, sales worsen each year.

                                  U were right about the camera in Compact version, 1/2.6" sensor is sufficient enough for a compact flagship smartphone camera. They already doing great in Photo Pro app, its time to upgrade their Auto software image algorithm.

Up until now, the Compact was pretty much competing against the previous year's models, other than the SE back when that came out.

                                    Hopefully it becomes a thing. Holding a phone single-handedly is underrated.

                                      So the "smaller" phone is back on it's every 2 year replacement cycle... not actually new to it then.

                                        You cant have 1 iii Premium, because 1 iii will be the Premium.
                                        4K is the main thing of premium series.

                                        XZ1 outsold XZ1c by far.
                                        XZ2 was poor seller, XZ2c even worse sales.
                                        That is why there is no compact flagship now.
                                        Ace in Japan sold more than expected.

                                        There are limitations of the small body.
                                        I highly doubt the can fit same cam system inside body as small as XZ2c.
