Good news. Android one sucks. And the A series were always a disappointment. Moto and OnePlus have got it right software wise

Mi A2 was my second and last Xiaomi device. I'm not going back to MIUI, no way. Android One is great, but the way Xiaomi is handling it it's just embarassing.

Another good idea from Google allowed to die from lack of interest, and boredom. Just like so many others.
Imagine the chaos if they suddenly decided to close gmail at short notice !!

Skinned android is much better and feature rich. Make sure you buy phone with decent power. It will work great.

Android one OS are like bare bones. General public who is used to phones with more than basic features find it annoying to search apps for each and every features in One OS. Like my dad who got never used to the mandatory gestures and ultimately I had to give him samsung phone. Now android one has became like nitche offering and only OS enthusiasts are into it. Hydrogen OS, Moto OS they are great and if you disable samsung bloatwares it's also quite satisfactory.

Not surprised actually. Xiaomi wants control and they can't do that with Android One and their Mi A3 is a disaster in terms of development and update roll-out.
