AnonD-949116, 04 Aug 2020You don't have to use the MIUI if you don't want.... moreSince when does a launcher change the whole system UI? It doesn't. People certainly often get confused with system UI and launcher.
Anyway nothing is confirmed. The original source added a nice paragraph. Translation:
Update: Our article is also making the rounds internationally, which I find really cool. Unfortunately, some colleagues misinterpret some things. In the first place my article is based on market observations and assumptions, not on confirmed reports from the manufacturers. It's quite possible that new Xiaomi devices will come with Android One, but so far there are no signs of that!

Good to know that this company didn't planning to make another android one device, since the last 2 model is a disaster

Let's just hope those that already paid for the support of the Mi A3, Mi A2, and the remaining months of the Mi A1 don't get the same nasty surprise as the Mi Mix 3 5G owners did (spoiler: Xiaomi just walks away from its commitements when there is no more money to be made).

AnonD-949116, 04 Aug 2020You don't have to use the MIUI if you don't want.... moreNot as easy as that. Changing the launcher doesn't really change the UI, even if you use Nova Launcher, the underlying system of the phone is still MIUI. I use Rootless Pixel Launcher to change my phone's (Redmi Note 5 AI) launcher from default MIUI, since I don't like not having app drawer (old MIUI versions don't have app drawer) but the system's software is still MIUI.
The only way to change the UI (whole software) is to unlock the bootloader, root, and install a custom ROM. However, not many people are able (or willing) to do that.

Good riddance! Xiaomi's incompetent support was killing the marketability of the Android One program to all other manufacturers that were delivering adequate support. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Google just got fed up and delivered them a final notice that this sort of incompetent behavior could not be tolerated any further.

You don't have to use the MIUI if you don't want. You can use another launcher, like Nova Launcher, which is imo the best by far.

In every year android one variant was much better than MIUI. So company had less chance to send you add.

Instead of correcting thier mistakes and learning from them, seems Xiaomi seeks quit. Funny to know. So then it is most likely I won't buy a single device from them as I don't like highly customized software skins.
