Otherwise, Qualcomm competitors could benefit from the ban.

AnonD-909757, 10 Aug 2020Yeah, but just because they are using "US technology&q... moreI told you. Qualcomm is only superior to Kirin in GPU and CPU department (max by 10%)
Kirin is superior in AI, ISP, Battery efficiency, 5G Chipset, SA/NSA 5G.
People sees benchmarks only, that's why they see Qualcomm is superior. Kirin is better in efficiency (see the legendary battery life of Huawei's phones), 5G SA/NSA, 5G chip (All kirins are 5G chips, Qualcomm's rely on outer modem except for 765), ISP (No company managed to use RYYB sensor.

Don't just think Qualcomm Is superior, don't judge a chio by the benchmark scores. Huawei's AI is the best in the industry. They managed passerby removal and all that crazy night photos without even Night mode. It proves the power of ISP and AI of the Kirin 990 5G. Huawei's Kirin 990 5G AI score is unbeatable.

    huawei with snapdragon sounds good..

If Qualcomm got approved then it just prove US government is a hypocrite. The whole TSMC thing shouldn't happen. If they dont feel safe about huawei product in US then just ban them. Why do they feels the need to go and undermine a company's business that has no relation with your country whatsoever.

AnonD-923722, 10 Aug 2020Snapdragon is better than Kirin in GPU, and CPU (only 5% if... moreThat's what I'm saying too. If they have to choose between Snapdragon, Exynos or Mediatek, then they should choose Snapdragon even though it's more expensive.

If however they can find a way to continue producing Kirin, then that would be best.

Hopefully there will be some negotiations between the chinese and the muricans to sort this out.

AnonD-923722, 10 Aug 2020I feel the same. But one correction : Tsmc uses US tech,... moreYeah, but just because they are using "US technology"...
Which is funny because when we look at how and where most tech are invented, the US actually didn't invented much techs, even lithography and chip printing isn't an US tech, but like most things, the US did appropriate it for themselves.

Qualcomm do better chips, the Snapdragons are indeed superior, the only superior chip to the Snapdragons are the Apple Bionic, but sadly we won't see them in an Android anytime soon...
Imagine how awesome would be a Huawei with an A13 or A14 !

Tsmc uses US tech, that's why it is banned from doing business with Huawei. So sad.
Kirin chips are on par if not better than Qualcomm's. But exynos and mediatek are significantly inferior.

Whackcar, 10 Aug 2020If Huawei starts using Snapdragon chips on their flagships,... moreSnapdragon is better than Kirin in GPU, and CPU (only 5% if compared generation to generation) and allows for GCAM.

                        BUT BUT BUT

Kirin is better in terms of 5G (it is an 5G chip, not modem), Power efficiency (Huawei's battery life is legendary), ISP (Can Qualcomm handle RYYB sensor?), and their own tuning.

Qualcomm is only superior in GPU and CPU, rest is better on Kirin. So i would be sad if they switched to Qualcomm. It will be more pricey and they tune it less. It also meand less competition in the chip department. Hope Kirin is back. But Qualcomm is definitely better than Mediatek and Exynos, but Kirin? Not so. Huawei's Kirin chip and the 765G is the only 5G chip in the market, Qualcomm's flagship chip has an external modem.

Maybe come true. Money for US company, plus can put their data to spying CCP lol.

I dont care. Every powerful country try to show their powers. All I know is Huawei phone havent dissapoint me.

If Huawei starts using Snapdragon chips on their flagships, then there won't be any downgrade in performance or endurance, and it will also enhance GCAM support. So I'm up for it. Only downside would be that they might raise the prices of their flagships because Snapdragon chips are more expensive...

That said, I'm not particularly happy with this whole ordeal. Competition is good for any industry, and putting an end to Kirin won't do any good to anyone.

That's exactly why we shouldn't rely on the US for anything and rather make our (all other countries) own alternatives, and why we should actually enforce control over the US actions.
TSMC isn't even American, yet they force them to not print Huawei's chips.

If anything, this isn't Huawei that we should ban, it is the USA.
