I'm really really disappointed. I live in Egypt and we 've been waiting for ICS for a long time. Our play store does not have some of the apps in other countries' store.
I'm really considering a move to iphone 5 when it is released.

ICS is following the same path as original Eclair 2.0 and Honeycomb. It has inherent issues else Google would not have taken so long to release it nor would manufacturers have taken so long to roll out updates. Look at how quickly GB was adopted - especially after 2.3.3.
Jelly Bean will be to ICS what Eclair 2.1 was to Eclair, and its what manufacturers have been pushing Google for. Unless Google misses it's launch dates it will be adopted quickly. And it will work on all devices that can run ICS
Just remains to be seen if manufacturers will offer the 18 month update support promised - they will have few excuses not to. Otherwise it's up to the Dev's

Simple, there are users who still use the SD card builds and increase the percentage of the older builds. I for one skipped this idea due to very poor battery life and went on using the king of mobile OSs-Symbian

If they only sell a few thousand devices then it does not leave much money from these devices" ie profit" to pay engineers to develp ICS for that said device.

Remember the almighty apple leave out a certain function to make you upgrade to next device,Android is doing the same as most devices CANNOT cope with ICS..Stop whinging and buy a new phone.

the percentage of users of Android 4.0 might increase faster if phone makers and app developers develop more games and applications that work on ICS O.S half of my games are not working at all, i keep switching to Ginger bread just to play some games and run some apps...

the real reason is not because HTC One X and Galaxy S 3 shipped with ICS, it is because all Sony Xperia 2011 phones are running ICS till date. PERIOD!

Of course the pie chart is in such mess when few of the most sold phones on earth won't get latest updates.
To makes matters even worse, these phones could run latest Android OS with no problems, because they are mostly flagships.
Yes, I'm looking at you Scamsung !!!

Who c... moreAgreed. 50 percentage of the users are ordinary people ,they dont even know about the new major updates,may be wouldn't care even if they are aware though.They just wanna use it thats all .so having latest os is not necessary thing for those 50 percent users
Apart from that ,the rest of the users are either fanboys or technical users who always love to grab new flagships every year ,no matter whether they get updates or not
finally ,no body gonna use a multimedia handset for more than 2 years! just buy new one if you really want new os ,unless you dont get it officially .dont think about apple ,their updates are craps (just look at ios6 .LOL) and they have only very limited model compared to google and other OEMs

Who gives a monkeys about which version of android people are running?
When i was running Symbian, updates were rarely more than bugfixes, maybe a FP if you were very lucky.
How many WP devices are about to be left behind when WP8 is released and they don't qualify for that particular update?
What is says to me is that there are plenty of people out there who still find that whatever version of android their phone is running, it is a good, useable OS and meets their needs.
Also says that 'droid owners don't start having panic attacks every time a newer device or newer OS version than theirs is released

just waiting for windows mobile stable release, i mean like bluetooth file transfers, zune free etc, then FO to android, its like giving updates every now and then this is not PC , google grow up

Does my optimus one support ICS??!! Well, last time I checked it didnt even support gingerbread. So, Tada!! here's why people are still using older versions... ppl are getting dumber by the day :/

I'm not stuck, I choose not to upgrade because my Gingerbread ROM with all of the mods is super awesome!

It seems quite obvious that Google themselves are not that keen on having the latest OS being run on current non-nexus devices. If they wanted to, they could very easily put it up for manual updates, if not OTA....
