Like you push/move a flat button and the thing is spring loaded and just deploy itself, then you push it back and it simply easily store back in its intended position.

The punch hole is almost as stupid as underdisplay camera, only the pop up and the bezel (and, of course, no front camera) are good options.

Mobilemaster, 12 Aug 2020It can be useful when you are talking with somebody on FB u... moreNo need to have front camera for that, you can just have a deployable double mirror like this :
            https://walyou.com/wp-content/uploads//2010/12/OneMoreFace-1.jpg
But directly integrated into the back of the phone (or of the case), it's cheap, easily replaceable and work fine, it also fix all privacy, holes in display and other issues that front camera cause and could allow for better face biometric with ToF and main cameras that would work by simply flipping your wrist.

Love the Community, 13 Aug 2020Pop up cameras are unreliable. The smartphone industry is t... moreWrong, wrong, wrong and wrong again, and then, false.
Oh and wrong, and false too.

That's for the purpose of fighting those stupid myths that I created an account in the first place.
There is almost no report of broken pop up camera to be found, pop up camera is actually more reliable than the display, the battery and the electronic components.
Also not only the pop up can be made totally waterproof and even better by using electromagnetic actuation rather than an electric motor :
              https://imgur.com/gallery/ykYfaa6
But also, IP rating is actually useless.
It ISN'T waterproof, it is only water resistance.
              It ISN'T a guarantee.
Many IP67 and IP68 rated phones DO die or get damaged by liquids.
No manufacturer cover liquid damage in their warranty and actually go as far as putting water damage stickers in the phone, because it would be a big loss to replace all water damaged phones, meaning it happen a lot.
Meanwhile there are less reports of phones with pop up killed or damaged by water than any comparably sold IP rated phones.

The moving part argument is a totally stupid, baseless and over used one which is actually totally wrong, between the more complex vibration motor, periscope telephoto with mobile lenses and camera on gimbal, this is actually the opposite that is happening, NO ONE ever on the industry said they want to move away from moving parts and nor said moving parts are less reliable, actually it is the opposite with compliant mechanisms :
              https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FW6Vx2g9OCI

Underdisplay camera is a HUGE issue for privacy, hiding the camera give the illusion you aren't potentially observed, also transparent displays are NOT a new thing, clearly you don't understand how underdisplay camera work, their main issue isn't the display, that you CAN'T ever possibility make 100% transparent, you'll ALWAYS have the pixels causing huge quality loss, the main issue of underdisplay camera is certainly the required algorithms to fix the poor RAW quality, which is exactly why it is a huge issue for any biometric as they require RAW quality over computed images.

The underdisplay camera are EXTREMELY expensive, peoples think I mean like 40$ expensive, it is more like 300$ expensive or probably more, the cost of all underdisplay camera smartphones for the first 2 to 3 years will be a cold shower to everyone, that plus many glitch, artifacts and other issues on both the camera AND the display.

And again, pop up camera give you PRIVACY which is WAY MORE important than any user preferences.
When a scandal of massive proportions about leaked user video illegally taken without consent will surface, everyone will regret having underdisplay camera and everyone will actually want the pop up back once all the myths will be cleared out.

The smartphone industry is trying to making a phone without moving parts. That kind of mechanism you herald it as the best, will never be certified for IP68 and MIL-STD-810G and these are the certificates people want to have on their phones. Underscreen camera is the future and LG and Xiaomi's Transparent OLED TVs made it look easily feasible on phones.

Is their a series midrange or budget? Because their flagship series is the axon line, right?

This is excellent news! Bring on the under display cams! This will stop the endless discussions about „ugly punch holes“ and notches.

I wouldn’t worry about the quality of the screen in the area of the camera. Even if the first phones will have a slight discrepancy in that spot, it will sort out eventually, just like the fingerprint sensors became better and faster than the first batch.

Pop up front camera is better if you care about privacy. My new backup phone doesn't have an automatic brightness sensor and uses the front camera to adjust the brightness. I feel like I have returned 8 years ago.

My firts ever Android phone was a ZTE.
It was alright, not amazing. However, I have fond memory of the brand.

                                        1) Peoples are not aware of the real danger of lack of privacy, many think collected data are only for targeted ads.
                                        2) Because many peoples doesn't even know how much of their data and privacy is being illegally accessed.
                                        3) They don't know there is better options for face unlock than the stupid and poorly secured underdisplay camera.

And since privacy isn't about the individual, but actually about all of us, should we really care about a group not happy because of convenience (even though it won't be impacted) while they put all of us at risk ?
