If Samsung Apple or Huawei really wants to produce underscreen camera I'm sure they can pull it out in maybe a year.

Good! Let's put an end to the annoying punch holes already. It doesn't matter who launches it first. The under-display camera tech needs to go mainstream soon.

Obviously the selfie quality would be somewhat downgraded, and the display area near the selfie camera might appear slightly different than the rest of the display. But these issues can be resolved in newer generations of the tech. For now, let's just be happy we'll have displays without any annoyances again.

CompactPhones5ever, 12 Aug 2020"The main problems are subpar image quality as well as... moreAt least it delivers expectations. Not overhyped like the S20 Ultra.

I give you one solution. The best way to increase the quality of under dispaly cameras is by increasing the sensor and aperture sizes. So you get enough light and detail. Since notches, punch holes, and pop up camera have limited space (like most selfie cams) they can't out an large sensor because it will be too big and disturb the screen experience. But now since it is under screen, you can make it as big as you want since no one will notice it. The problem is DOF, which means less Subject will be in focus, which is problem for selfies. But they could just used software and caotyre photos at different focus points to get sharp single wide DOF photos..

      So the solution is :
      1. Put an larger sensor
      2. Put an wider aperture.
      3. Put an high quality lens, hardware, sensor, and software
      4. Use multi frame stacking to get large DOF and light

Mobilemaster, 12 Aug 2020It can be useful when you are talking with somebody on FB u... morePointless when you have a desktop or laptop computer.
          > but anon, phones are more portable
And phones are also drastically less capable than a budget laptop.
          > but anon, what if I can't afford a laptop
Then you're too poor to afford and maintain a data connection plan for your smartphone, and I doubt you even have electricity.
The selfie camera on a smartphone is practically just a luxury spec, but companies apparently haven't thought of removing them on budget devices yet. They're already pushing the headphone jack as a poor people spec, as all premium flagships don't come with one and they want you to buy their wireless crap instead.

"The main problems are subpar image quality as well as brightness and color difference in the area where the camera is positioned. Visionox claims to have solved these problems with a mix of new display hardware and software algorithms for improved viewing angles and less glare but we’ll have to wait and see if that is the case."

There's no reason to not to trust chinese manufacturers' claims, is there? After all, does anyone really think that a chinese company would do that, just go on the internet and make false claims?! I mean it's not as large company as OnePlus (who would never ever lie about the optical zoom or the '10 layer cooling system' in their OnePlus 7 Pro) or Huawei (who would absolutely never pass DSLR images as their smartphone camera samples, and they totally wouldn't get caught doing it 4 times), but still, it's a chinese manufacturer, and if there's anything that chinese products are know for, is their high quality and absolutely 100% honest advertising. /sarcasm_off

I hope this becomes mainstream by the time I'm on a market to buy new phone. I literally don't make selfies at all and I couldn't care less if phone just didn't have any front camera (though it's sometimes useful for mirror function). I don't even care if under screen selfie cam has terrible quality, coz of above reason.

I can't really comment as I don't understand the mechanics but it should be complicated enough that Apple, Samsung and Huawei were not the first to introduce this feature. So, kudos to ZTE for being first to market with it.

Wow, innovation never ends! Go ZTE! Goodbye notch and punch holes.

Since it's gonna be the first iteration, it's very possible that it'll have some issues but this is the next big thing in the smartphone industry and it'll turn the game on its head. Excited for this new development.

This is good. It allows full screen experience without any moving parts.
People will say that it will let less light in due to the panel and less clear.
                              Well, i have a solution.
Use an large sensor, like 1/1.7 inch one on the selfie cam. It will allow for high quality selfies be it day and night. And since you don't see that camera, you can make it as big as you want. Since notch and punch holes and pop up cameras have limited space to keep them small. Just increase the size of the sensor and aperture.
But after increasing the sensor size and aperture, don't forget to use an software that multi stacks image at different focus points. Or else, the DOF will be too narrow and will make almost all photos look like an Portrait mode photos.

Anyway, that's my opinion. What about yours? Feel free to reply and correct me.
