03 July, 2012
The patents in question are for the IEEE 802.11 Wi-Fi standard, which the tablet allegedly uses without license.

Nokia has most of the patents but has decided to keep quiet all this while for reason best know to them.

Instead of apple bashing people on patents it should be Nokia doing that.

Nokia I hail thee, you are just a sleeping giant waiting to be awakened

One would have think that company as big as Google would do some reserach on infringing patents and licences before they release their product to the market. Just sayin..

Go Nokia!!! atleast Nokia doesnt send them to court like there's no tomorrow!

I dont get the idea why Apple doesnt want a clean and peaceful competition. Apple should learn from this.

Instead of burning out cash for their lawyers, why not send children to school??

i love all OSes; they all have their strengths.. but i really hate Apple's ways. Why unnecessarily spend huge amount of money instead of doing something good?

Honestly i'm sick and tired of 'patent wars'. I appreciate that Steve Jobs was a bitter man when it came to the android/ios battle and that's fine (i understand he left a lot of money for the patent war) but deswigns are going to be copied as that is the nature of the business and i think it's jsut a shame that the manufacturers can't focus more on innovation and design rather than petty legal battles which seem deisgned to gain them leverage over other manufacturers rather than to benefit their brand.

This is example of how a company should act in case of patents(buy the patent if you wish to use it), unlike crapple, who with every accusation will try to ban the product from market, making clear that all they want is throw competition out of the market when they cannot compete technology-wise.

Great work from Nokia. Instead of making a bloody mess in Court. They have used a much better and sensible approach. Good going!!!

If I were the author, I would have said it this way:

"However, Nokia won't have as aggressive approach as Apple and is unlikely to file a case against Asus because Nokia doesn't have money to sue like Apple does."

Just tells Nokia needs cash and they need it soon, whatever they can get. Doubt Google want to risk the launch of Nexus 7 either so this should fits both parties pretty well.

While this might seem a crazy idea, but cashing in on their huge patent pool might be plan the B for Nokia. In case the Windows phones do not sell as planned.

now that's a patent we can talk about and ask for licenses. not for scrolling and slide to unlock, that shouldn't have been patented in the first place

I don't like this patent saga one bit, but I will respect Nokia in this regard. They're not known for patent trolling and if they say they have a patent that's infringed, I'll consider it seriously, especially with they way they proceeded. Unlike the cry-baby Apple.
