The kind of misinformation spread by the western media is all that know about China. Those westerners who have been to China will find a different story.

This is a move no one is winning in. I think somebody is forgetting that almost 1 in every 6 people are Chinese, and another 1 in every 6 is Indian - the inevitable rise of China as the real powerhouse cannot be stopped anymore, and that the center of the world is NOT the US anymore.
This new war between these 2 country is only affecting consumers and the development of technology.

Don't you folks believe this is just a smart way of redirecting people's attention towards being against China, instead of focusing on our internal problems?

1. Banning foreign companies that don't comply with the censorship & Compliance rules
2. Blocking the internet access to those servers so that chinese people can't access.
What USA does:
1. Sanctioning Huawei for violating Iran Sanction by stopping it from aquiring US technologies and products.
I'm a chinese born and raised in China I know how much people hate sensorship. And I don't mind Huawei being punished at all

This won't harm China. In the long run they will find a better solution. It's the US and the orange man who will suffer instead. They already have a decimated economy and a national health crisis.
China will just become even stronger and better now since this will make them even more self reliant. They make everything better than US anyway.
It's actually great because now we will surely have an alternative to Google's monopoly game. In a couple of years Harmony OS will have everything it needs.

Productivity: Gmail, Dropbox, Google Apps (Drive, Docs, Calendar, Maps etc.), Microsoft OneDrive, Slack, Google Play (i.e. no downloading Android apps), Hootsuite.
Social: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, Pinterest, Quora, Tumblr, Reddit, AO3.
Streaming: YouTube, DailyMotion, Vimeo, Twitch, Periscope, Pandora, Spotify, Soundcloud.
News Media: New York Times, BBC, Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, Reuters, CNN TIME.
Search sites: Google (text and voice), Amazon (Alexa), Wikipedia, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo.
*Note* – You can use Bing in China, but the results within China are censored.
Messaging apps: WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Telegram, Line, Signal, KaKao Talk (Korean).
Blogging: Medium, Blogspot, WordPress.com
Voip calling: Skype, Google Hangouts, Viber.
Miscellaneous sites: Porn websites, VPN websites, Politically sensitive sites.
And you have the nerve to call others ignor4nt. Have fun with your "nice" country and their products.
P.S. It's all started around 2009, because the China government wanted to control its people and not let them see everything from western civilization.
As I said in different post, same like North Korea, but a little more "democratic" to save the appearances a little bit.
Just go and live in China for 1-2 months, see if you have the same opinion afterwards about freedom of speech and other important human rights.

Jojo, 18 Aug 2020Get your fact straights. Google, facebook, and Twitter and ... moreMy understanding is that they were allowed to operate there if they agreed to local censorship laws but they refused to to do this so were blocked. I guess it's kind of a ban but they also had a choice in this matter so it's not an outright ban like the US is doing with Huawei

When the USA cannot compete, their either impose a tarriff or a ban. They already did this multiple times historically when they imposed heavy tarriffs on Japanese light/small trucks, and on Japanese motorcycles.
