Dimensity 800 has 4xa76 cores while this new 800u only has 2xa76 cores. In terms of cpu and gpu powers its a downgrade soc but with new features.

Looks much better than Dimensity 800 but I think the price of these Mediatek processors could be same.

The fact that Dimensity chipsets come with integrated modem and dual SIM support gives it an edge over its counterparts. Excited to witness the performance of Dimensity chipset.

Dimensity is adding good options for 5G oriented users. Dual 5G sim facility will be huge plus as well.

Gatotkaca, 18 Aug 2020they reduce 1 core of gpu to prevent the heatLol, to reduce performance nothing to do with heat. 800U is supposed to be cheaper version of 800

AnonD-454049, 19 Aug 2020Yeah, there's no point of overclocking the cpu if they... moreHeard frequencies are :
                        - 620Mhz on Dimensity 720
                        - 620Mhz on Dimensity 800

                        That's low frequencies...
As they said +28% on 800U compare to 720...they boost frequencies around 800Mhz, that's still not a vert high frequency (the same as G90T's GPU in 12nm and 800U is in 7nm)

                        On Antutu's GPU score you've tôt :
                        - around 73000 (/300000) points on Dimensity 720
                        - around 91000 (/325000) points on Dimensity 800 that's +25%...even if extra core should bring +33%
                        - as Mediatek said +28% we can imagine Dimensity 800U around 93000 points

                        Snapdragon 765G scores are similar

In my opinion, Dimensity 800U will bring the same perfs as 800 and will cost less

That’s a nice speed increase on the big cores. Unfortunately, it seems that they are cutting some corners in the GPU department…

Anyway, more 5G SoCs are always welcome!

Anonymous, 18 Aug 2020'Destroying' But still around 70% current flag... moreYeah. More people use Toyota too, so it's the best. Or more or people eat at Macdonald, so it's the best. Sorry, more people use Tecno here in Nigeria, but it's definitely not the best. Not even close to that.

But that's not me saying that Mediatek chips are generally better than Qualcomm's. But in the price categories, Mediatek is definitely better!

Looks like mediatek is running ahead of QC. They might catch up.

Am I missing something? This is more affordable than the standard 800 but it seems overall the better chip? Dual 5G support, UFS 2.2 and higher clock speeds..?
