Why every new Sony announcement generates such controversy ?

It it was Samsung announcing new colors/memory variants for the S20, it would
be 15 comments at most

Buts its sony we're talking about, so here we are, 100+ comments
of people yelling at each other

I don't get it

Anonymous, 21 Aug 2020Maybe because Xperia phones have no built-in AOD, secret fo... moreAOD is on Sony since past 2-3 years. You trolls doesn't even know what this device has or what it doesn't. Stop wasting yours as well as people's time.

Also with free default apps on so called chinese and samsung, you also give away your privacy to these companies. Not to mention annoying creepy ADS in system UI like on notification bar. 1500€ smartphone has ads in their system UI. What a money grabbing high tech is that. Don't call yourself a premium user if you call these ads as feature. They are f annoying. Definitely not premium. BlackBerry, Apple and Sony are the only companies who doesn't creep on users data&privacy.

Anonymous, 21 Aug 2020Maybe because Xperia phones have no built-in AOD, secret fo... moreLacking built-in AOD? Really? Sony actually has a built-in AOD called Ambient Display since Xperia XZ3 and it always been there, and if you want a solid proof, look at Michael Fisher or MrMobile's review on Xperia 1 II and it's very customizable, considering Sony minimalism approach. And are you trying to discredit Sony RAM management and optimization just because of that and their preferences? Sure, maybe they'll add more features in the future and all features you mentioned there due natural needs overtime, but even then, Sony's software and RAM optimization always been regarded one of the best and that's has been the case for several years. Not just from yesterday evening story. That's because they're implementing Industrial Engineering philosophy all the time, which's by optimizing every resources it currently have and utilizing their maximum potential, leading into maximum output, and not by expanding more resources but in the end, only become wasteful resources to have due not implementing it properly.

Anonymous, 21 Aug 2020Maybe because Xperia phones have no built-in AOD, secret fo... moreChoice of what service I want to use is better than I'm being forced to use or have things running in the background that I don't use. The phone is mine, when I pay for a phone it should not include being controlled on how I should use my phone. This controlling behavior is growing with the manufacturers because consumers are being told that's for their benefit and free service and the consumers believes it and boost about it. It's sad. But have to say advertisement works. Not saying Sony doesn't not have that kind of behavior, but at least from what you are saying it is doing less of that in their phone.

So that's just poor ram management from your smartphone manufacturer. That's not something your should boos yourself. Btw, Iphone only had 4GB rams.

Yes 12 GB is bit overkill for a smartphone especially on Sony.

My old mate 10 pro, while the photos were really not good at all, also had manual mode. Sony didn't do anything special here except the UI.
Still a good phone I wouldn't exchange for any other, it just suits me.

About the RAM management, dude, u just being exaggarate about Sony lol. I've own Sony last time, and it behaves almost like others on that time for the same amount of RAM (except TouchWiz). Nowadays Android UI are matured enough & differentiate just by the looks. Oxygen, One UI, Miui, EMUI all has tremendous RAM management already, maybe some of them better than Sony does.
