I've been using HTC phones since 2006 and I admit that HTC centers are really bad in my country (Saudi Arabia).

For me htc is the best, beautiful and durable phones HTC makes the unique features of cellphone. No other manufacturer has made better phones than HTC!
The reason why google choose Samsung for there Google device is because Samsung knows how to sell Stuffs.
They are in the advertising business with decades! If you compare the One X vs the Galaxy S3, you would find that the One X would win. HTC !! YOU CAN DO IT

Shall we look from another perspective? Samsung is a big corp which is not only driven by the ceo, it has the backing of the entire country and its citizen. The goverment is generous to samsung and constantly pushing Samsung forward. The result is, the products are getting better. Samsung is deeply integreted into the ppl lives. Korean love their Samsung hand phone.. u don see Korean celebrity openly use an iPhone in public.

HTC given the unstable political scene in taiwan is facing problem in its own country. They are having difficulties in developing better ingredient for their handset and catching up with the Korean. Some taiwanese politician even uses HTC as a tools to attack the govermemt and calling citizen to boycott HTC products. Most of the Taiwanese celebrities have no objection to discuss on how nice it is to use an iPhone.

Its not HTC is not trying or listening to consumer.. they have problem in executing their strategy within themselves and also facing pressure in taiwan.
        My 2cents,

Htc is way more better than samsung.!!! They just have to advertise their products.. thats all HTC needs.. if you choose a phone that is quantity over quality then go for samsung..!!

AnonD-32984, 08 Jul 2012oh well read all the comments. and i think sense is the onl... moreAt least Samsung premium phones don't have problems like the One X with its Wi-Fi disconnecting. If HTC had such great phones, my friends who own some would not be complaining.

This is what happens when you play with the big boiz.
This or any chinese company cannot compete with the quality of the big three. apple, samsung, nokia.
just look at their camera performance.

You hit it perfectly when you used the words "packaging" and "ecosystem"... At least to people like me, they are not technology (in pure terms) and perhaps more than technology/product... whatever it's called... marketing, positioning, product strategy, ....

sanitycheck, 08 Jul 2012Agreed. However, with the arrival of Apple and how it has ... moreTo me, Apple did not invent. They merely repackage the mobile phone and made it more user friendly. However, this repackage in 2007 came in a strong and solid which took the mobile industry by storm. Manufacturer woke up and realise mobile phone need to be remake.

The remake session took at least 2 years of their time for most major player except nokia who refuse to wake up.

Apple then made full use of the big leap and remake the app store (which I believe they copied from nokia ovi and put some apple effort) this took manufacturer another few years to catch up.

Apple marketing can succeed because while other manufacturer are catching up and have basically nothing beautiful to show. Apple have the luxury to culture its customers and nurture an ecosystem perfectly.

The industry now is a different story. No manufacturer have the luxury to nurture and perfecting the ecosystem to their liking. Samsung is still catching up with apple, HTC is falling behind but glad that they are ahead of nokia, Motorola, Sony.

adix, 07 Jul 2012Marketing is important.. but it is a contributing factor to... moreAgreed. However, with the arrival of Apple and how it has and is leveraging marketing, marketing appears to be much more than "just a component" for success in the mobile market these days. Marketing is as important (if not more more important) than the products themselves.

I personally don't own one but objectively (based on my testing) the latest HTC phone is as good if not better (in certain aspects) than some of the top/popular runners. Virtually in every industry, the "best" (quality, performance, design, specs...) product is rarely the top selling or most popular/profitable product. Best selling and popularity unfortunately are not solely based on the quality and performance of the product. Of course, you need to have a pretty good product to start with but the eventual winning and losing is rarely based on the product. It's all about marketing and how reach and you set the perception of the target audience/market because many of people lack the knowledge or time to know enough about the product other than what has been fed into their head by ads and articles which are often biased.

Just look at all the marketing by Apple. It was a good product when it first came out but we have never seen such a high level of overuse and misuse of the words "innovation", "invention" (airplane? light bulb? space shuttle???), "amazing" (walking on the water???), just to name a few... and tying "emotions" to machines... Fortunately/unfortunately, people not only buy into that but become "religious" and refuse to be objective and fair/open-minded... missing out on a lot of other good stuff...

Like other people, I own and have owned multiple brands (Apple, Samsung, LG, Motorola, Nokia, etc.) without being religious to any one brand. If marketing did not play a critical role, not sure if certain companies would still be a dominant player (especially for so long) rather than just "a notable" players in their respective market today...

oh well read all the comments. and i think sense is the only thing that makes HTC DIFFERENT from other phones. its unique. and as far as the clock is concerned u can just remove it from the screen just by one click. so that point is baseless. the only thing htc needs to do is good marketing strategy and nothing else. we talk about samsung, literally they r doing good but only bcause of one reason.... their marketing is good. as far as build quality is concerned, nothing comes in way of HTC. they make best quality phones. i have used samsung phones but then changed to htc....---- reason----- CRAP SAMSUNG QUALITY.. i rather broke the back cover of galaxy s3 while opening. ewww........ look at samsung ui it sucks big time. and i ve seen widgets as compared to htc... where samsung widgets look like cheap and childish with no quality at all..... so htc will come with a big bang... soon after they update to ANDROID 4.1 JELLYBEAN. GOOD LUCK.

Remember there are Alot of company producing Android, not just samsung, each company has its weakness, that includes samsung itself.

then sue Apple and get money from that freaking excuse of a company due to the delay in release on US markets because of that freaking "possible infringements" thing. that should amount to double the price they lost in sales. i hated Apple more because of this abuse that they are doing. and i dont freaking know why people whine a lot about no removable battery, no expandable sd slot. when iPhones dont have them, nobody whines. and stop telling me power users need them. as a power user myself, i can barely keep a high-end phone for 6 months and i only remove the battery for fun and to see and read everything written behind. getting a mobile 'chargeable charger' is definitely cheaper than buying a 3000mAh extra bat, and you can even charge all your phones! brainless people. i cant even fill 3/4th of that 32g of memory. sorry, needed to vent out. i just hate that this is happening to HTC because it is such a great company who makes great devices.

HTC's dire financial results are well deserved. The company lacks both focus and purpose. They think that churning out product and filling the supply pipe is the way to go. So be it. After releasing products, there is little if any connection with that product and there's even less support for anything they release. I'm sitting here with a Desire S and will this ever see ICS? Somehow doubt it. HTC, once an OEM, always an OEM.

You can always get an office app. I've experienced both phones. The One X does have some elegant aspects, however I find the S3 simply overtakes it with many more features I find useful for me like Smart Stay, removable battery (I mind waiting for hours to charge), 30fps video (than One X's 24), removable 64GB maximum expandable micro SD card option, better front facing camera, S Beam, and the magazine-like appearance of the HD Super AMOLED screen.
