Anonymous, 07 Jul 2012htc failed cuz their new phones arent really packing things... moreNo other manufacture has made better phones than HTC!
The reason why google choose Samsung for there Google device is because Samsung knows how to sell Stuffs.
They are in the advertising business with decades!
Samsung producing much more other devices than Smartphones!
And they simply know how to sell Stuff!
And The HTC ONE X is light years ahead of Samsung Galaxy S III.
But they simply don't know how to advertise there products!
If I have to choose between HTC or Samsung device I won't have a second tough to choose HTC!
But this is my opinion!

If you compare the One X vs the Galaxy S3, you would find that the One X would win.
Now just because my name is not GSM Arena or Engadget you will say I don't know what I am talking about.
I'm even include the iPhone 4s on this one, because it would get left behind.
Here are a few things you can try for yourself on a Galaxy S3 and the HTC One X or One S.
Internet - find a web page with text and if possible pictures too.
Now use pinch to zoom and you will notice works so much better on htc phones.
Music - Put there same track on both phones and get someone to listen to both handsets not knowing which is which. I have tried this and HTC Won hands down with beats audio.
Camera - Galaxy S3 only shoots upto 20, One X shoot upto 99 shots. Galaxy S3 has 3 filters HTC has a minimum of 38 filters, Burst is always ready to use on the One X, the S3 has to be select almost every time you want to use it, through a menu, S3 does not have slow motion video, the One X does, The One X can take a group shot and even if a person has blinked, the result shows they haven't, The S3 can not do this.
Also try this, take picture of someone with both phones. Have them stand in front of a window facing you. Frame them to the left or right. There head should be at the top of the frame and there waist at the bottom. Touch the screen on the person face so the image is in focus. What you will notice is when take the picture, the S3 will come out dark, where as the One X will give the correct expose. In fact, where ever you touch on the screen on the One X, the exposure changes. Where as the S3 it doesn't.
Back light on the S3 does not seem to worh unless the image is in the centre.
The Galaxy S3 does not have car mode, a built in office app, can not back text messages, does not have smart flash, pocket mode, flip to speaker, silent pick up, De duplicate contacts, Transfer contacts, customizable lock screen (HTC has 8)
I feel Samsung delayed the phone to copy htc and done a good job trying. But with the amount of money Samsung are spending to sell to there phone, that should not be a reason to choose a phone.
Samsung Galaxy S3, nice phone but it's not a HTC.

Anonymous, 07 Jul 2012htc failed cuz their new phones arent really packing things... moreEverything you have said is nonsensical. Try applying it to the iPhone, one of the most successful phones ever in every incarnation, and see how it works. It doesn't. You are, in a word, WRONG in your analysis.

TDMaster, 07 Jul 2012its kinda sad cause HTC makes amazing phones.... Same processor in US Gs3 and US OneX/OneS.. gs3 plays 1080flash video perfectly but HTC stutters like a drunk EVEN THE AUDIO STUTTERS! Tiny batteries, no external storage..quietly brilliant, pfft

htc owner, 07 Jul 2012unlike before they are starving their customer with new upd... moreJust remember that they are updating a phone from 2010 and so far Samsung hasn't even planned to update the Galaxy R/W/Beam/Ace+/Ace 2!
On another note, the no memory slots or removable batteries in the S/X and lame marketing is a major negative factor not to mention them not willing to make QWERTY phones anymore.

sanitycheck, 07 Jul 2012Having the best (or one of the best) products usually doesn... moreMarketing is important.. but it is a contributing factor to success not the main factors. Product have to be solid and able to root firmly into the ground to withstand the harsh world out there are the main factors. No matter how good one x marketing is, without a strong product, it still won't work. Samsung s3 success happened because it set a new bench mark for android phone again. When that happen plus a overwhelming budget on marketing, ur phone will sell in millions.

htc failed cuz their new phones arent really packing things that would atttract different consumers.. their htc one line has no sd.. none removable battery.. not even advertising it much.. and aside of that most important to android power users,, they are locked and not easy to root.. so who is going to be interested after all this??!

Having the best (or one of the best) products usually doesn't equate to the most popular, successful, or profitable company. Why??? Unfortunately, much of the success depends on "marketing"... It's all about setting perceptions and letting people know about what you have and that your stuff is the best whether that's true or not... Why? 'Cause most people don't have the time to investigate and know all of the product and do the valid comparison... As they say, "Perception becomes reality"....
IMHO, HTC (and Motorola, Samsung, and other smartphone companies) needs to bump up their marketing and learn from Apple, if anything... It's not the product and how better it is... It's all about the perception... And fortunately/unfortunately, it almost always works... Why do you think there are so much commercials on TV (every 10 mins???) and other media channels, including internet...??? Would not be surprised if there are significant differences in marketing expenses between the "leader" in this category and other companies.

HTC fail is not because it phone is bad, is HTC no marketing strategy, the most basic advertisement, also don't have.
And HTC store (in my country and neighbor) is just to stingy, none of the store have real device demo on desk for you to try out and test it.
How to sell like that? surely fail.

one of the imp reason is due to lack of support in Indian market. cuz smartphone growth is 300% in India last year and these Htc is not releasing any updates and not easy to root and many more.

Anonymous, 07 Jul 2012HTC are constantly releasing new phones... I remember count... moreThat was the main reason why they failed to perform. They promise such mistake will not happen again. Guess what? We have 5 htc devices cannibal own market share. One x came..then one v.. before one v can sit warmly.. desire v came in .. then came the one s which is bundle with useless headphone which jack up the price of one s to be incompetence to fight with other brand and models. Consumer having a headache and decided to go for iPhone, s3 or galaxy s2( not surprising). At least choosing another brand and model is easier then decide which HTC model to choose from with each spec so closely link..

pete, 07 Jul 2012Not surprised profits are down. I purchased the DHD back wh... moreAgree.
Also having a DHD and in need of a new one.
Can't be a HTC coz wans replaceble batteries and Cardslot.
Also theirs investments in WinPhone mobiles dragging down HTC as it does with Nokia.
The SGS3 might be the right one for me too, but I prefer a metal housing on my next phone.

HTC are constantly releasing new phones... I remember counting and noticed that they launched 5 new devices in April alone. Instead of putting so many average devices out, why don't they focus on their budget phones (that way the Europe market can afford them) and on powerful high end devices that can rival the Galaxy S III. Besides, I have a Wildfire S which is obe of their budget devices and after playing on my mums Sensation XE I've noticed very little difference...
To sum it all up, budget devices equal tge quality of high end devices. HTC should focus on quality rather than quantity.

Why don't they not compete with the large sized S3 but instead go back to putting more functionality into a smaller phone.
Hard to believe now that HTC made the d810 and the td3. They seem to have list the capability to make compact devices.
They could save money by not having sense too

Not surprised profits are down. I purchased the DHD back when it was released and HTC had record profits. However when it was time to upgrade the one x had no sd card and a small, sealed battery. Epic fail. All i wanted to do was take my sd card out off my old phone and put it in my new one which is exactly what i did with my new s3.
HTC needs to listen to customer. Sd cards, good batteries and more responsive updates. DHD STILL WAITING FOR ICS.

I find One S as fast as S3 , smaller to hold easy with your hand and stillish.
I really see no meaning to exchange or sell it and get a S3.
