It's unfortunate that Samsung's upsell tactic is working; prices will just continue to skyrocket.

Funny because when Apple switch back to vanilla model being the cheapest one instead of makin new model name (XR to simply 11), they really made the 11 worthy. Aside from HD display + missing out some display feature, lack of telephoto cam, and 'just' 2m deep IP rating, iPhone 11 is the best USD699 phone you can buy. At least in US.

because in my country, iP11 is simply on par with S20+ in terms of price. iP11 Pro is there with the Ultra and Pro Max is just out of mind.

          Damn currency.

Honestly not surprised. The vanilla Note 20 doesn’t even make sense comparing to the note 10 and Note 10+

I would have bought the S10+ if it didn't have Exynos. This year Samsung panels also suffer green tint, just look at OnePlus and Samsung themselves.

It's gonna be the same in the rest of the world too and that's exactly what Samsung intended in the first place. Price the vanilla Note20 with mediocre specs way too high, but price the Ultra even higher, so people tend to find the couple of hundred euro/dollar worth it for the better spec'd Note20 Ultra and buy that one. Works well for Samsung as it shows.

I hope they won't falsely and stupidly conclude that it is because of the flat display, that's may actually be its only selling point against the Ultra.

Regular Note 20 is pointless. Should have not existed in the first place. A discount may not boost sales unless it is large enough.

Vanila android is as good as IOS simply plain n boring. Off course not handycap like IOS though here you can throw any thing.
On the other hand android = eye candy why would one buy an android and go for Dos without installing windows on it??? U know what i mean??

Anonymous, 24 Aug 2020I think the profit margin from the note 20 is at least 40%If you cut a slice of the R&D (Given that's shared between models), you can go up to 60, 67 if count Exynos model.

Love the Community, 24 Aug 2020Well played Samsung. They created the Note20 as cannon fodd... moreAgreed. But because of S20 Ultra, they neede to call it Ultra, otherwise it would've been Note20 Lite and Note20, and after Note10+ they could'nt do that either :(

Samsung is basically unusable in Europe since the S8. Exynos is just garbage and even bigger batteries don't help. I really don't want to switch to OnePlus but it seems that's my only option at this point...

now once pre-order time is over, online retailers selling Note20ultra 256gb variant for AED 3880 around USD1057. now that's a quick price drop.
and Ultra selling more that shows how crappy the Vanilla model is... its just a joke in the name of Flagship device.

Why stating the obvious? Let's see if they can outsell their Note 10 series from last year and regain the 1st place again.

Anonymous, 24 Aug 2020No surprise. All going according to plan by Scamsung Which is funny, because they're not exactly new to the Android ecosystem and has a substantial enough customer base to know exactly what people want from a top-tier phone.

The price difference between the two is really huge. But Note 20 always a DOA with its plastics, FHD screens and missing cameras. Note customer always been premium customers go after the best specs especially initial buyers. May be Samsung can do these silly tricks after few months when the price of Ultra gets knocked 30%

I'm willing to bet there'll be significant Note20 "discounts" during Black Friday season that simply take it to the price it should have launched at. And it might even still be a bad deal then.
