I wonder when are cellphones companies investing again on LCD screens. The last time we got a super LCD screen was on the HTC U11, although its maximum brightness was a little low but it was something

There are more greens than reds or blues in a panel no matter if it's IPS (might differ per manufacturer) and AMOLED, at a certain brightness value near or at the minimum, the colors will always skewed (you should not expect accurate colors at this point) and the ones with most number of pixels will overpower the others. This is normal for AMOLEDs, Samsung will just increase the minimum brightness as the easiest solution. In IPS, there could be issues other than just the brightness since the LED and the IPS LCD "should be" independent unless Samsung cuts costs and combine the power drivers of the two into one driver which affects color of the LCD when the brightness goes down. Or giving Samsung the benefit of the doubt, they could be sourcing the LCD panels from external sources (again, to cut costs) with firmwares needs to be further optimized. Kudos to Sammy being able to F-up both their AMOLEDs and IPS (or PLS) LCDs.
PS. This issue is also prevalent in Samsung-made AMOLEDs from other phone manufacturers so maybe Sammy needs some explaination to clear-put why this is happenning.

This is normal for OLED screen. Any fluctuation in power like dimming brightness, changing refresh rate, will cause something like this - the pixels behave differently due to given power to them. Unless they resort to raise the screen power usage at lower brightness, I don't think this can be fixed.

All OLED are suspectible of green tint issues when the brightness level is set too much low and now because of 120hz. That is also the reason why phones have min brightness. Apple, Oneplus, Samsung, Huawei and maybe others already experienced this kind of problem..... And all of them fix it with software update....

shino03, 25 Aug 2020Agree the lower megapixel count increases the pixel pitch o... moreDafuq are you talking about ?
What does security camera have to do with ToF in the first place ?
ToF data are literally useless if they are low resolution, they can only be PROPERLY exploited if they have a 1:1 scale with the image you are trying to apply transformation to, otherwise you need to waste computing power to try to detect objects, fine-tune the edge detection, and scale up the depth data to match the image and make it impossible to do MANY tasks that would be quite easy with such resolution.
And working like ANY REGULAR SENSOR, ToF sensor pixel size won't matter much, actually, they have 3 time bigger pixels than regular camera as it isn't RGB but monochrome.

Anonymous, 25 Aug 2020There is no 12MP ToF on Earth.
Not even from Sony.
Ther... moreToF refer to multiple type of sensors, LiDAR can be ToF when they aren't structured light, laser measurement is also ToF, in that regard, there ARE ToF of 12 or more MP.
Also, thanks for the negativity, 12Mp ToF would allow amazing things while actually being cheap (those IR sensors are easier to manufacture than equivalent 12Mp color camera), many things now impossible would be possible, funnily enough, I am sure the peoples who are against the idea of a 12Mp are also those saying that Depth sensor is useless, which is funny because it is because it have crappy low resolution that it is useless.
So, what have you against 12Mp ToF ?

IpsDisplay, 25 Aug 2020Damn I can't bash OLED because an LCD display is also ... moreWorst case I saw on LCD is the G5 and V20 with screen retention.
Which goes away after some time or permanently removed with overlay apps or kcal root.

J. , 25 Aug 2020How many days their products are tested? 1 day? SadOnePlus said months ago it is not defect, but nature of oled.
This tech is a big failure.
Those that defend only has the same old "deep black" excuse.
There are more downsides than bemefits.
Companies just keep using oled because microLED is too expensive and will take many years to reach small factor.
Sony = 320p panel, $10.000 each
Samsung = 540p panel, $15.000 each

So perhaps this could be one of the reasons why Apple is looking forward to acquire Chinese screen manufacturers to supply panels to their new iPhones.
And yes, it's already 2020 and Samsung's still stuck at 8-bit displays. Only LG and other Japanese display manufacturers supply true 10-bit OLEDs.
