Electromagnetic pop-up would fix the issue of "moving parts" most people have(it's purely magnetic) and make the phone capable of supporting IP68, without the disadvantage of low camera quality of under-display solutions.
I wonder why companies aren't considering this.

Its only with apple 120hz refresh rate create hype. This Brand is a total SCAM. In 2020 120hz is the minimal to have. I don't understand the hype about this brand

J. , 26 Aug 2020Don't you know Samsung slow software? And there is a b... moreYeah, and of course the P30 Pro is conveniently also slow I guess ?
FACTS are, the pop up doesn't add any delay that can be considered negative or unpleasant or even noticeable, test against MULTIPLE other devices show the same tendency :
Being as fast as other methods, because the pop up isn't slow, you just don't want to admit it.
And well, I never heard of issue with the Vivo V17 Pro who have a pop up large enough for hosting 3D Facial recognition sensors, either using a ToF camera, an IR camera + dot projector, or even more sensors like my design.
Motor is worth pennies, literally, go on Aliexpress and check tiny electric motor, they are sub 1$ and my cat is currently playing with an "insect toy", the one with small AG13 battery, which is basically a vibration motor (an offset mass) running, those batteries hold around 130mAh and those toys can run nonstop for days, so the power consumption excuse doesn't hold.
Also, you probably out of hate against pop up close the tab of my design a nanosecond after seeing it, not realizing that the whole point of this smartphone is to showcase a DIFFERENT pop up technology with electromagnetic actuation that :
1) Virtually doesn't take any additional space over the pop up module itself, though in my current design there is a LITTLE space taken on the side but it is on purpose as it allow to remove the pop up without opening the phone's main body.
2) Is extremely fast, as every electromagnetic actuated things, literally car engine valve can be and have been actuated this way, the pop up would open faster than the blink of an eye if not limited to avoid degradation.
3) Have virtually no wear regardless of the pop up weight or size as there are no moving components, the only things that could be subject to wear is the rail on which the pop up slide, which, using steel on steel, would last for centuries of continuous use considering the near to no stress the weight of a pop up module cause.
4) Cost near to nothing, you only need 6 small neodymium magnet and a flat small coil along with a small capacitor to make the whole actuation system.
5) Is totally waterproof, and I don't mean water resistant, I really mean waterproof, as using a pass-through data and power cable or contact pins allow the pop up to be physically be outside of the phone main body, pop up module who can also be totally sealed off, and because of how it work, you can push it down like a button or like a stylet typical push-to-pop, it doesn't make the pop up pop out, but it is possible because only magnets hold it in place and it is spring cushioned, meaning in case of any jam, you can push it.
6) Would not take ANY damages if it fall on the pop up as there are only magnetic force holding it in place rather than a mechanism, meaning nothing is to break.

Julian M, 26 Aug 2020iPhones are great devices, but they're just too expens... more”so why put out $1100+ for this stuff?”
If you need to ask that, this phone clearly isn’t for you and you don’t value the stuff it offers. So no need to worry just move on and buy something else!
I bought 11 Pro basicly only for the great camera and now after a year i think the phone already worth more than i paid. But again i value a great camera a lot, I might buy this 12 pro if the camera is noticable better than my 11 pro.

But have been thinking about getting the iPhone 12 pro, from the looks of it there is a iPhone 13 coming out next year that critics say is much better to buy than this 12 that is supposed to hit shelves in October. Thank you for your honesty. I think i will just hold out or get the new Samsung galaxy phone instead.

iPhones are great devices, but they're just too expensive - no matter the latest techno gimmick they managed to cram in, it's just not worth shelving out that kind of money for their flagship model. Honestly, a 120 Hz display and LiDar sound like fun additions, but they're useless 95% of the time - so why put out $1100+ for this stuff?

Ahah!
Look at the comments on iPhones last time. They claim that iPhone is outdated, it ain't have a 120hz display! Now look at this!
Now they nitpick about the notch, lol.
Don't realize that the face id is much more secure than many ultrasonic fingerprint options.
Even the huawei mate 40 pro has that "massive" hole-punch display.
