Flip up cameras will offer better image quality for your selfies? That's nice, but under-display cams are much cooler and more resilient.

Most women don't care about selfie cameras. Just those "instagrammereuses".
And some men do care about it, selfies with family etc
Stop it.
Also not boys and girls but men and women

I rather not have under the display cameras, because I don't want the government from NSA or China watching my face all day without a way to cover the camera.

Yeah I know that is paranoia, but with flip up camera or pop up camera you know 100% for sure you aren't getting spied on.

I like both better than bezels or notches, but I would prefer a flip up. Why? Cuz they're really cool imo. :D

Under display cameras makes cameras invisible and makes image quality lower due to the lower light passing to the sensor because of the screen. But, there is one solution to image quality with under screen cameras.

            1. Put an larger sensor, since the camera is invisible, you can put as large a sensor as you want. While Notches and punch hole needs to be small, they cannot use an larger sensor or an wider aperture because of the size limitations, while under screen cameras do not. Largest selfie camera sensor is around 1/2.5 inch for phones that uses punch hole designs (s20 ultra). I hope under screen cameras can make the sensor size to at least 1/1.7 inch, so the lower light passing it is countermeasured by the larger overall high quality sensor.

            2. Make an software that captures images or videos at different focus points at the same time. Larger sensor means Narrow Focus area and more Bokeh. Not every situations needs bokeh that much like the Mate XS and the Asus Zenfone 6 and 7. You don't wanna blur the eiffel tower when you selfie beside it don't you? This is also an solution for phones with large rear sensor and wide aperture too.

            3. Make the screen able to turn as transparent and as opaque as possible. So when the camera is off, the screen is made opaque, so to minimize screen quality downgrade. When using the selfie camera, the screen can make itself transparent as possible to maximize the amount of light getting in and improve the quality.

Actually those who are concern about front camera quality are girls, the guys are more concerned with other aspect like screen quality, the uninterrupted display, etc.

Considering people prefer HOLES IN THE DISPLAY over a thin border, seeing such stupid and useless tech as underdisplay camera being popular isn't surprising.
