So it's practicaly what should Xperia 5 be in a first place - bigger battery, better sensors, a headphone jack.
I wonder if it would fit the same case since everything but a "jack hole" looks pretty similar.
This time I certanly won't be buying that crap Sony flip case that caused so many scratches on my handset ... hard plastic ... gj.

Too late, people don't want to buy 865 at the end of this year

video recording in 4K HDR at 120 fps, 120hz? If it is true this phone will be a beast

120Hz refresh rate and 4000mAh battery alongside a 3.5mm audio jack? Things are looking pretty exciting here.

Nick Tagataka, 28 Aug 2020Practicality of 4K120 recording on a smartphone camera asid... moreI agree. 8K on a phone is completely unnecessary in a phone for now. Unlike shooting in a real camera with good lenses and a large sensor capturing more detail with natural bokeh. In a phone it just looks like very sharp processed footage. It's not too bad but it's just unnecessary.

Eugenefing, 28 Aug 2020Wow!! They really need new wallpaper, design is 2/10Many people would disagree with you. Sony always had the minimalistic look so the wallpaper is fitting for a Sony phone.

Not flashy and colourful like some other phones might try to do.

Anonymous, 28 Aug 2020They fixed the battery and jack problems, but one deal-brea... moreYou sound like the generic type of person who never tried something before completely disliking it. The Xperia 1ii exists. The Xperia 5 lineup is smaller than the Xperia 1 lineup.

It looks much more rounded, unlike Sony's usual style.

                      120fps 4K HDR darn it.
Now let's see the real-life quality.

68mm. That's nice. The middle ground between compact and phablet. Like the old Xperia Z2 and phones in that era that weren't a plus or a compact version.

< 70mm is a rare breed of which Sony mostly fulfills

Anonymous, 28 Aug 2020They fixed the battery and jack problems, but one deal-brea... moreIt's supposed to be a compact phone. More specifically, a compact version of the Xperia 1 II. If you want the bigger one, check that out instead, or other Ultra/Plus phones for that big screen.

If can record 4K, 10bits, HLG @ 120fps that's insane, more useful that choppy 8K video.

KebabSLO, 28 Aug 2020Price: 1.1k€Unlikely since this is a lite version of the xperia 1 II so probably around 800-900 $

As perfect as this sounds, considering this has a 120hz refresh rate I'd expect the price to be £999 or £899, which is a 200 increase from the 699 the original Xperia 5 was. These phones are getting too expensive

Only thing is a lot of video content is not adapted to it but its not a big deal. I have the ipad pro also and same thing for content consumption not everything is adapted to the aspect ratio but it works great.. very sad that people dont try new things but are expert armchair critics, certainly with sony

Looks like my 4 year old XZ1 that has never had ANY issues is getting and upgrade. Can't wait.
