This doesn't look like a natural member of the current portfolio of OnePlus. This looks more like a contracted phone for some carriers in certain countries.

The point is it's... moreThe snapdragon 460 is actually a pretty powerful chip, take a look at the specs instead of judging by the name, it is essentially a snapdragon 665. Same gpu, cpu toned down a bit. Might not be as powerful as the 720g, but still way better than the g80s a lot of phones are using at this price point

The point is it's... moreI know maybe oneplus doesn't give amazing specs for a mind-blowing price, but it does make sense that the oneplus 8 pro is better than oneplus 1 because better specs means higher price, but higher price doesn't mean always better specs like (guess ?.. Not the iphone 11 pro but the note 20)
The oneplus 8 pro has a super expensive soc and the super amoled 120hz qhd is much more expensive than the one on the oneplus 1, and just everything
So THOSE ARE DIFFERENT TIME and the price of components is more expensive but I agree with the guy who said that they don't give as price to performance ratio as before, yes it should be more expensive that oneplus 1 but not +1000$ for samsung or apple yes we know from an old time that price to performance ratio is not good but for oneplus or xiaomi settings a higher profit margin will make fans of these companies not happy, because they loved them (companies) because of amazing price to specs ratio

The point is it's nowhere near as powerful as anything else on the current market. Whereas their $250 phone in 2015 was pretty much just as powerful as the flagships of the time.

Though even if we're ignoring the comparison to other phones of their times, the two shouldn't be comparable at all. We're comparing a 28nm quad core to a 12nm octa core here. It's ridiculous.

What makes old flagship still sought after because its performance is STILL top notch even after several years as it was 'built to last' (it's future-proof, just look at SD800, introduced 7 years ago but already supported 4G) ; unlike low-end ones whose performance deteriorate after a year (some even in months!) and it's far from future-proof, as the 'next' cheap ones will have much better specs & features!

If it comes with sd710 or even sd712 then it may sell well but not sure the sd460 and Hd+ display doesn't look good in that price range.Other brands like xiomi and relame are providing FHD+ dispay and sd720g at that price range though oneplus oxygen OS is far better than miui

Boggy-Stefy, 28 Aug 2020Exactly, this guys see SD4xx and immediately think is the w... moreU obviously underestimate many GSMArena visitors a lot, don't u?

Ever heard SD632? That one was shitty enough that Redmi 7 wasn't sold as high as Redmi Note 5 pro (SD636).

And SD460 is the 'watered down' version of SD632 (lower 'hierarchy' (SD636-Kyro 250 vs SD460-Kyro 240), with 'watered down' GPU from SD662 (Adreno 610, support up to FHD gaming) which was 'watered down' from the much more superior Adreno 512 (SD660) which actually support QHD gaming.

In short: what can u expect from a 'downgrade' version of SD632, which is a 'downgrade' version of SD636, , which is a 'downgrade' version of SD665, which is a 'downgrade' version of SD660? (4 times downgrade for 200$ devices? Redmi 7 from last year with SD632 is close to 100$ now; I really wonder the 'sanity' of smart@$$ who still justified this crap after reading this.)

Boggy-Stefy, 28 Aug 2020So, you would rather buy a 2 year Xiaomi phone? Yeah, it is... moreAs far as I know (which U obviously don't), Xiaomi is by far the most consistent brand to offer updates to most of their phones (especially flagships).

                        1. Futureproof:
Even IF Poco F1 stopped getting updates from Xiaomi, miui EU developer most likely won't, let alone the XDA ones.
IF they also dropped support for F1, there's still Lineage OS where many popular phones are supported.

                        2. Oneplus software updates:
Oneplus software updates is a mixed bag; some get long support, while others get minimal (even NONE) support (The 2, X). Any tech-savvy know this fact, except u, onbiously.
1+, unlike Google or Nokia, don't have clear commitment to keep giving updates to previous products!

                        3. Motorola:
After Google sold it to Lenovo (after acquiring ALL its patents), they are now in 'zombie' state; they make good devices, but have POOR updates!
By looking at ur statement where u highly praised Moto G8 power, it's obvious that u don't know about Lenovo p2.
AFAIK, the current Moto phones are no better than ZTE or Lenovo!

So much BS just for defending flop brand which soon will be the NEXT HTC (if they don't realize their mistakes)!

Oh lord a 720p LCD? For $200? And I thought the Nord was a joke.

Even the $250 OnePlus X release HALF A DECADE ago has a dang 1080p OLED display. AND that had an SD800 series chip. Why OnePlus? Why have you taken your pride and thrown it in the trash?

YUKI93, 28 Aug 2020$200 for a OnePlus smartphone with a 6.52-inch HD+ display,... moreAs much as I don't like overpriced, nostalgia-ridden Nokia, at least they offer 'expandable slot' (a.k.a MicroSD slot), which NO overpriced PIXEL or 1+ offers (they once do, the X, but that one was sooo half-baked, u would prefer to swap it for the 'One').

What I NEVER get it for ALL 1+ phones: why DELIBERATELY omit essential & vital feature when the loss is greater than benefit? Even Samsung learned their lesson with S6's & Note 5's sales flop.
(Nexus & Pixel devices omit MicroSD slot to promote Google photos, Drive, & Youtube Music, which means 'money', but 1+?)

Another one: 3.5mm jack. The ONLY reason why the likes of LG still able to survive all this time is thanks to their decision to keep this feature (as well as MicroSD slot).
As a long-time user of LG (g5 & v30), I know that these 2 features, as well as capable audio & camera(s) are what keeps them survived (unlike HTC).

Don't underestimate the 'power of convenience' that was only present in mid-range phone nowadays.
Gamers, Audiophiles, and mobile photographers valued the presence of 'convenient & useful' features more than 'fashionable and trendy' crap (yes, I was looking at you, TWS & glass back!)

I expect that with Oneplus launching lower end phones their software support will be worse than before. With Nord they promised 2 major android updates and with this even cheaper they will probably give only 1.

Now that Samsung is improving their software support and likely Nokia to up their game(even for cheaper models) these chinese phones with bad software support is starting to look bad.
