OnePlus working on an entry-level phone powered by the Snapdragon 460

28 August 2020
Codenamed "Clover" and rumored to retail in the $200 range.

For 200 will be a huge fail. Both Xiaomi with Redmi Note series and Realme with 6S offer much better deals with better specs. Oxygen is not what it used to be and Oneplus is taking forever to stand by their word like in the Oneplus 5/5T which they promised Android 10 and released a buggy version 3 months ago and still didn't correct it.

What was Qualcomm thinking for the existence of the 662?

Anyway I went to more credible site Anandtech https://www.anandtech.com/show/15436/qualcomm-announces-snapdragon-720g-662-and-460-socs

And the RAM is 2x 16-bit @ 1866MHz LPDDR4X 14.9GB/s, not like what you posted. The graphics 610 is also very weak.

Still, I'm not impressed with such dated cpu cores.

Ulefone, Doogee, Aliga... moreBBKs own sub-brand realme(a rapidly growing and a very good brand) wil launch the same spec phone in the near future under 150$. Xiaomi(an established one-even one among the top 5 brands in the world as of today(international shipments)) may launch in the near future. Why not -even the pricey brand Samsung will launch snap 460 phones under 200$
And for ur information its not about money. I don't mind spending even 1000$ for a phone. Its about the worthiness for the spending money. Juz for a somewhat refined software u cant spend 100$ more.
But u can justify all u want.

SD 460 is decent, but this will probably be a phone that no one wanted. What consumers wanted was increased access to the Nord. I've already lost interest since getting my Pixel 4a.

dyslexic alien, 28 Aug 2020This guy gets it. The word "budget" has been rede... moreIt has been for a while. The iPhone SE is considered "budget" at $450 and besides the SoC, it doesn't have much to show for it. The OnePlus Nord is considered budget at $400, which is $100 more then the OnePlus One whose price was considered mid-high at the time, The Pixel 4a is considered budget at $350, packs a somewhat decent SoC and a good camera. But let's not forget that was the launch price of the Nexus 5, which besides having been a plastic fantastic, had a flagship SoC.
The entire market has shifted up. The best argument for a $200 OnePlus phone sporting an SD460 is that the SD460 seems to pack a lot more CPU punch as it's predecessors and OnePlus' lean OS probably means the day to day experience will still be pretty good.

OnePlus should just remove the useless 2MP cameras and put those savings towards upgrading the screen to FHD. That would be a proper low-end killer phone, a segment where no BS reigns supreme (but, unfortunately, OnePlus is full of it).
