A... moreFor phones yes, but I doubt this will be the case for laptops anytime soon, I bought a 4GB RAM laptop in 2010, then a 4GB RAM laptop in 2015 (lenovo thinkpad ultrabook) for almost $ 1k, and now if you browse ultrabooks, you will find that $1K gets you 8GB RAM. Laptop RAMs haven't progressed very well over the last decade, mobiles are doing much better for sure.

The software doesn't take advantage of the power and capacity, there are tons of apps and computer programs, millions of updates but it's all sloppy and bug ridden, that's why there are a lot of lags, crashes, incompatibilities. A perfect software with the computing power from 7 years ago would be better than what we have today.

Not surprised with large RAM when it comes to Android considering its programming nature. I myself used to be a long-time Android user before switching to Windows Phone (both 8.1 and 10 Mobile) some four years ago, and I'm still scarcely believed at just how efficient its memory management in factory standard setup. Once I Interop unlocked my Windows Phone device to increase the virtual memory and also tweaked the RAM and chipset speed, it performs even faster than before!
That is why I'm still using Windows 10 Mobile as my daily driver to this day. Though I still have an Android phone with me, I only treat it as my custom ROM and mobile entertainment device, and nothing more. Everything else is still being done on my Windows Phone device.

Android.Master, 31 Aug 2020No it doesn't. It was reloading apps all the time. N... moreiPad is understandable since it runs on a completely different OS. iPadOS is meant for more tablet usage instead of phone-type usage, so I'm not surprised to see such big RAM.

No wonder Apple upgraded the RAM to 6gb on iPad and others.

So no, smartphones will not have more RAM than gaming laptops don't worry.

Sounds interesting but i expected a bit more.
I bet they have already 64GB ram in works but until the final twesting, release and all errors solved we wont see it earlier than maybe 2023 or 2025.
