Qualcomm taps Samsung for manufacture of affordable 5G Snapdragon chipsets

They didn't mention the new Snapdragon 4-series by name, but those are most likely the chips in question.

    There's a reason why SD660 was 're-introduced' as SD660 AIE and jack up the price because the old Adreno 512 is MUCH more powerful than Adreno 610 (Adreno 512 in on par with Adreno 616 in SD71x; SD660 is the last SD6xx with great GPU, since Qualcomm messed up the 6xx line-up after downgraded it to mid-range with the introduction of SD8xx).

    In my opinion, this move from Qualcomm is their way to cope up with MediaTek's Dimensity line-up which offers impressive 5g SoC.

          It doesn't matter if your country is still on 4G. Soon, all handphones will be 5G.

            Snapdragon is the best. No MediaTek for me.

              I don't really get the point of rushing to the cheapest 5G phone because if you are on a budget how come you can spend extra on a 5G plan so early into the deployment? If I was on a budget early adopter tax is the last thing I would pay.

                Covid19 change the whole world backward. Economy drive backward, lifestyle backward, and technology goes backward from Sd730G to Sd400 and by the end of the year not surprising to see Sd200.

                          Andreidinutu, 08 Sep 2020Other than the "expensive for the price" part tha... more665 was used in phones which were $250-270 (Vivo S1 Pro, Nokia 7.2 and OPPO A9, A92, A5 2020 and a few others) which are expensive while Redmi, Realme and Huawei were offering better SoCs for lower prices (SD712, 730, Kirin 710F and Helio G90T) so naturally you would expect a phone at this price to perform better than lower priced phones which isn't the case with these phones

But tbh I really love mediatek. A g80 can beat this 665, and much cheaper at that. The g90t is waay too good to be compared with the 665, yet still boasts around the same price
                            I love mediatek, fell i love with them after I bought a motorola one macro, 720p p70, and a shark 2 with an 855 1080p. It keeps up no joke, for a quarter of the price

                                  SD4xx series is for lower end phones like Android Go phones or slightly higher than that it is not to be used in anything above $100 and SD6xx is a decent performer can run most games fine not 60fps but enough to game if your expectation aren't too high and shouldn't be used above $220 than comes SD7xx which is usually to be used in phones above this price point but at mid range Mediatek Gxx and Kirin 810 (best mid range 4G chip yet) offer far superior performance and I see no reason to prefer Snapdragon over them unless you really want Snapdragon

I wou... moreThis is not a Samsung SoC, its a snapdragon SoC, its just built by Samsung, like how TSMC make apple's A series, but it's nots TSMC's chip, its apple's. Exynos has nothing to do with this.
