Samsung to manufacture all Snapdragon 875 chipsets

14 September 2020
The order by Qualcomm is for over KRW1 trillion, which equals to about $850 million.

haha. everyone always said ohh i didnt want buy samsung anymore. but samsung is always one of top selling company in any year. people just buy snapdragon samsung that is from usa and few region. but rest of the world still get exynos. then why samsung is still standing huh

      What did AnandTech say ?

Exynos 8895 has better efficiency at regular usage(with the CPU).

But SD 835 has better efficiency when Full performance kick in.
And Exynos has higher performance than SD835. So, it eats up slightly more juice. What defines efficiency is "performance/wattage"
Here is a para from AnadTech,,,

""Hardware comparisons are a little easier when rendering at a fixed resolution offscreen. The S8 (E8895) is the fastest Android phone in this test, and its wider Mali-G71 GPU configuration bests the Kirin 960’s high-frequency approach by 16%. This is about half the E8895’s theoretical advantage when looking solely at compute/texturing resources, suggesting the E8895 is bottlenecked elsewhere. The S8 (E8895) is also considerably faster than the S835 version in this test, with the gap growing to 50%. We’ve already seen the E8895 outperform the S835 in other shader-intensive workloads, and ARM’s Mali GPUs historically handle this test’s workloads well, so this is not a huge surprise. In addition to the results shown above, Basemark ES 3.1 also measures the performance of specific graphical features. The E8895 outperforms the S835 in all of these subtests, but it does particularly well when performing SSAO (screen space ambient occlusion), a technique used for calculating soft shadows, where it’s 58% faster than the S8 (S835). The delta between the E8895 and S835 versions shrinks to only 16% in the post-processing test (depth of field, antialiasing, etc) and 8% in the particle instancing test.

Overall the Galaxy S8 delivers excellent peak graphical performance. It offers a significant performance uplift over the Galaxy S5 and S6, although its gains over the S7 and last year’s crop of S820/S821 flagships are not as impressive. The performance delta between the E8895 and S835 versions of the S8 varies depending on workload, but the E8895 S8 is faster in most of our tests. ""

          You're just straightly lying here.
Exynos was always more efficient than Qualcomm before exynos 8895.

As they're coming back to regular Arm cortex core again it's only a matter of time since Samsung's Exynos is the efficiency KING again(though rumor says they might use custom core derived from cortex X1 core).

            You should know this.

And It was manufactured by "TSMC".

Anonymous, 14 Sep 2020I have an S8 Exynos and even that has worse battery life th... moreThe only area the s8 snapdragon has better battery is for straight non stop gaming. Everywhere else the exynos is better. Better in cpu, audio, and overall efficiency.

And even now the changes were for a reason. They could have been executed better but they were for the birth of larger more powerful cores. And we were to soon see the benefits.
And if you even have the slightest clue what you're talking about then you know that there was no avoiding some of the first couple year initial issues of such changes to large cores. Apple and Qualcomm struggled with similar changes too.

Unfortunately for the executing of the current chips and for the death of the future ones... company ceos are incompetent morons.
They were clearly being forced to focus more on numbers and benchmarks then proper efficiency and setup.
So adding up new large cores, forced to push numbers, and it finally being a time frame that qualcomm starting taking efficiency seriously finally altogether finally pushed snapdragon ahead some.
Doesn't make exynos bad. Doesn't erase the near decade lead exynos had.
And doesn't change the lead exynos was working to bring.

However now going back to regular or hopefully their semi custom more efficient cores the exynos next year will return to either matching or surpassing snapdragon again.
                          So whats the issue exactly?

A departure from the lead because of a new design of large cores that was close to bringing big benefits to all is fooling?

And best of all I fail to see where manufacturing these has anything to do with designing large cores. How is that the same?
Their chip fabrication and process is great. Tmsc might have a small lead in that area but samsungs is still top of the line.

And did you know apple struggled for years with heat, throttle, and power consumption after switching to large cores?
Qualcomm fell behind for two years just from trying to switch to 8 cores.
