David, 17 Jul 2012I just got Lumia 800 , WP no more. I really waiting for ... moreI also have my Lumia 800... Got it last May and now I'm waiting for Samsung Galaxy Note 2. I will then sell this Lumia phone and get a Note...

MS is all about the money... It is their decision to restrict WinPho 7 and 7.5 phones' specs and now they will use that to justify "No Upgrade Path" to Windows Phone 8...

AnonD-53748, 17 Jul 2012Don't be so ignorant. Just because you have quad core does... moreOn S3, what about the rest of the phones?

as i said people dont share ur activities not all people play games in their phones therefore for someone like me Single/Dual core is enough to operate and having Quad core is not standard specially if the OS can run smoothly ... look at SONY my friend has Xperia S its amazing Phone run Smoothly with dual core and he like to edit photos and videos and its considered fast

and its not easy to operate quad core not all the companies knows how to do it,,, look at S2 when its first came out it was one of the fastest dual core out there but HTC Sensation was big fail as dual core in every benchmark,,, U can have quad core but it would be useless if the company didnt know how to tweak it properly

After using the Nokia Lumia 800 for 6 months I've given up on it. The user interface was very simple and quick to use. However I've found the over-simplicity of this interface restrictive in too many ways. The fact that Internet Explorer has a lot of compatibility issues were annoying and made the web difficult to use. The lack of software features offered of major competitors is also poor. The app selection is also very poor and extremely expensive in comparison to Android for example.
The nail in the coffin for me was Microsoft & Nokia not upgrading the current Lumia series to WP8. It adds insult to injury given much, much older and lower spec'd Apple and Android phones are receiving their latest software versions. e.g. iPhone 3GS is getting iOS 6, Desire HD is getting ICS.
The cut-off from WP8 software gives current WP users the finger. In short its preventing users from getting features which are standard in iOS and Android.
I've worked in the mobile phone industry for 5 years and have hands-on experience of all platforms. WindowPhone I now wouldn't touch with a barge poll, at least for the next 3-5 years to give it time to catch up with everybody else. For now, your next smartphone should be an Android or iOS.

Anonymous, 17 Jul 2012i been with Endroid for over 2 years and its garbage OS tha... moreThat's funny because you are a lousy liar like most of Nokia fanboys

1-Battery in S3 which is quad core has more battery life than your beloved Nokia Lumia 900 which is a SINGLE CORE!
                      http://blog.gsmarena.com/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-battery-test-is-ready-does-very-well/

2-Lag! are you kidding me LOL you are so 2010 Qualcomm with 1.6!
Because i had S1 with gingerbread before it never lags so stop lying! Here is a demo for S1 by GSMarena show me where it lags?
                      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s98gIMNhILQ

3-Heat? You are so uneducated! If you have multicore PC will it give you the same TEMP as single core PC?
Also you will need a heatsink to cool it down!
So this is a simple physics more core more heat and the heat in Dual core is not that much and this PROVES you are a lousy liar you only use cheap phones like Nokia's, Because i have Galaxy Note and the heat not that much and only when i play HD Games for more than 15 minutes. then the heat appears and not that much like in IPad3, No one reports of heat problems in S2.

Android is way out of your league and who is going to believe you behind the monitor? Do you have a proof for your made up story? 2 years in you imagination your owned Android and it called "Android" not "Endroid" LOL lousy liar

Does this mean we will have direct access to files on the mass storage (e.g. file manager?) Or files might still be hidden to the user?

Just because you have quad core doesn't mean you will be using all at once.
On the S3, there is the new pegasusq governor (which is hotplugging aware), asynchronous cores (cores can be clocked at different speeds) and more frequency steps in comparison with the S2
Obviously this is useful, as it allows the extra cores to be utilized in a case of multithreaded applications and yet not turn on the extra cores for a long single thread.
The cores can be clocked at different speeds, useful as not all applications load up the cores evenly.

Quad core is a more power efficient way of introducing more processing power (as compared to simply bumping up clock speeds)

What about using your own mp3 as a ringtone - one of the most basic functions? Still missing I believe... as well as individual volumes for media, alarms, ringer, etc.
There's still too much of the basic stuff missing, that you take for granted (if you're with Android, of course you still can't use your own mp3s with iOS either) - this level of restriction is just crazy in this day and age... and it really shows just how poor their systems must be if you can't even customise your own ringtone...

                              Until then... forget it...
