Including the same Snapdragon 865 chipset and 4,000 mAh battery. Just about everything features improvements and extra polish, though.

This phone has the complete package, but please GSMArena, stop calling it a compact option because it is not small at 6.1 inches.

Nice phone. One of the better phones Sony released this year.

Nick Tagataka, 17 Sep 2020Looking at my P30 and S10's teardrop/punch hole camera... moreI thonk one of the reasons for a small sensor is that there needs to be enough space for the 3.5mm jack maybe.

Didnt expect it to be less.
Too pricey, but definitely my new phone, as it meets all my expectations from a smartphone.
Just Hoping that extra google assistant button is programmable.

There is no other mid compact-Flag RAM/SoC-notchless/bholeless screen-dual front stereo speaker-3.5 mm jack-great camera-great 2 yr guarantee performing battery-ip68 resistant-SD card ready all-in-one combo smartphone out there...
        other tha Xperia 5 II.

Im ready to cash out for this, even if its too pricey IMO...
as I see no cheaper alternatives out there.

$949 and no wireless charging? I mean come on Sony WTF?!

            Headphone Jack

The dream phone I've been waiting for but that price tag tho. Would've been better if the $400 discount was actually a discount instead of adding them items.
Guess I'll wait a year then, hopefully it'll be lower then.

Whether you like it or not, you gotta reckon it's one of the best features/money ratio we've seen all year

Everything is perfect except the price. Could have been better if it was 100 to 200E cheaper.

Screen size could add 0.2 inches.

I absolutely love the design, but for me, it's still too big. 68mm width is perfect, but 158mm in length kills it for me. :(

Not gonna lie, this is easily one of the most complete compact Android phones you can get. 120Hz OLED display, stereo speakers, decent camera hardware with great manual controls, 4000mAh cell with battery protection mode, splash & water resistance, and thank goodness a freaking headphone jack! All in 1000 USD, so even the pricing isn't that bad, and it's definitely a better buy than the regular Galaxy Note 20 if you don't mind the absence of a stylus.

Hopefully other companies will follow suit and bring back the jack to their devices as well.

Finally a phone without a punch hole, drop or whatever hole/gap in the screen.

Great one! The price is skyrocket as expected, unfortunately. 900e for Europe. For 700e I would think about to buy immediately, despite being high still. Let's hope there will be some good deal. After all those smartphones I'd changed so far this one looks currently the best for me on the market.

Although it's hard to find sony phones in New Zealand I would have bought this phone if my Note 10+ wasn't so good.

Anonymous, 17 Sep 2020Better selfie = better sensor = bigger sensor = more space ... moreLooking at my P30 and S10's teardrop/punch hole cameras on the front - I definitely think Sony could've put a larger sensor than a rubbish 1/4" one they use right now, especially considering that it has a bezel and not a notch.

I believe 240fps recording at ANY resolution, which is arguably a more common and practical feature, is not possible on Xperia 1 II, no? It doesn't come with Note 20 Ultra's 960fps or P40 Pro's 1920fps super slow mo either (which is weird since Sony is the one who started this trend on a mobile space).

It's not a bad phone but Sony messed up the price as always. Should have been 700 Euro max.

It is costly, sure but then for the features it packs, and the additional $400 free stuff, it's quite a package and justified, especially when companies are thinking of removing 3.5 jack, then the converter and now even the charger and instead putting cheaper batteries. The Sony is pricey but at least it didn't compromise a bit on quality, design and features

The phone is great. The price is the same as other flagship phones. With a plan from a mobile operator you will also have a good discount.
