Each sensor ... moreIn binning mode, Quad Bayer sensors do "additions" of light information right during the readout process which means it should not affect the readout speed at all (e.g. On a 48MP sensor, only 12MP of data will go through MIPI lane after each shot unless you specifically choose 48MP output mode). The reason why they decided to skip QB was probably that their camera division that the mobile division worked with during the development of Xperia 1 II/5 II was against the idea of using an atypical filter layout of QB sensor. Traditionalism is quite strong among many Japanese companies, I heard.
Also S20 Ultra's ISOCELL HM1 is 77% larger than IMX557 which could also significantly affect the sensor scanning speed, but on top of that its output interface is not as optimised as ones on Samsung's newer sensors, like GN1 for instance. It's possible that Sony deliberately chose the slowest sensor they know for a comparison to make IMX557 look a lot better.

The phone is great. The price is the same as other flagship phones. With a plan from a mobile operator you will also have a good discount.

Still.... Unbelievable how Xperia manages to make suck big waves in the smartphone industry.... And.... Who can explain why so much hate for these phones?........
It makes us believe that it is actually better in the long run than others.....

People has no complaints with the price of Apple iphone and Samsung S and Note series. But when it comes to Sony, they cry like babies.
Please tell me one other alternative which gives all the specs of Sony 5 II around 900€.
Also which other smartphone is doing 4K HDR 120fps?? Even 1400€ Note series can't do that.

Why sony release smartphone than tries to fix its problems with the same but upgraded model? Pointless. Rather they should release less but great spec model. No need mark 2 for each model they have

For 900 EUR they really should have added wireless charging as well, to make it complete. I would have purchased it because I wanted a compact flagship, but I think I'll wait for next year's Xperia 1 III instead.

A normal sized android phone with good specs!Yes, but I miss their truly compact lineup which were always under 140 MM tall, and had most of the features from the bigger Xperias. Sony can bring them back and it'll be much better than the junk Galaxy S10e with its Exynos chip, iPhone SE, iPhone 5.4 inch or any other compact phones because the beautiful Sony design, cameras and of course, Android power FTW
