Without Symbian and Meego, Nokia doesn't have extinguisher for Lumia burning platform. When WP8 is released, Samsung and HTC's WP8 will pressure Lumia sales.

i agree with the guy that said nokias downfall was going to chinese manufacturer. its this ages corporate greed of "maximizing profits" at any cost. well the cost will be the whole damn business if they dont step up their quality control. nokias used to be known for their beastly reliability

A couple of years ago when Samsung overtook Motorola as No. 2 Mobile Phone maker, I predicted that if Nokia does not wake up it will lose the Top Spot too. Well, true enough the Koreans made it happened.
Motorola and Nokia have themselves to blame, they were too complacent. They taught the world is not moving fast to catch up with what they are doing.
It will be very tough for Nokia to gain back the top position beside surviving with this bleeding of cash.
Their marketing Dept did a lousy job by not understanding what the consumers wanted but only focused on what they believe the Company can produce and the Market will accept the products. They do not have the foresight to see 10 years ahead. I am a Nokia user for many years and some of the Models are great e.g 6500, E71, Express music series 5800, X3, X7.(they are much better than any other music phones in the Market) They have the built quality and design. I am not sure that the next phone I buy will be a Nokia maybe a Samsung S 3. GOOD LUCK NOKIA

Nokia sold at least 6.2 million symbian smartphones in Q2 2012.
Nokia sold 1.5 times as many Symbian smartphones as Lumias LOL!
Also in the article it mentions an increase in Net Sales in America by 45%. That is an increase of income (not Profit or Number of units) from sales of Smartphones / Featurephones / Accessories and "Services" (Ovi Music sales in Mexico?).

Nokia have got a whole host of windows 8 phones up their sleeves. Come year end we will be seeing the release of phones that will rival any iphone, Galaxy, Nexus, Note... etc.

Guys some updates....
According to the well sourced MaryJo Foley , the next version of Windows Phone, Windows Phone 8, will not reach its RTM build until September, and will not become generally available until November.That means that no handsets running Windows Phone 8, or evenphones that can run the code, will go on sale until the month before the holidays.

They went downwards for one reason, and one reason only, they started OEMing, and producing in Chine and other places. The quality went downhill and so did the sales, their products used to be built rock solid!
