I guess its a bit complex, Trump doesn't want Huawei to own lucrative market of 5G. And want to buy time for other USA company to came up with their version of 5G.
Espionage? PRISM project is large scale espionage done by USA trough many USA corp, included Microsoft, Google, and Facebook. Is it bad? imagine PRISM is in the hand of the current leadership who could bomb a general of another nation just because he want them to kick started a war with USA. and oh, in the very same nation, USA once took down an elected leader because he doesn't want to sell oil to USA and install a puppet king. Not exactly infallible here.
I guess another big problem is that China is not part of 5Eyes. Which due to fear among 5Eyes against china, they never be part of it. So whatever technological part that might lead to advantages of china digital spies, 5Eyes will be against it. Despite whether Huawei complicit or not. Tough like most superpower, China have ways to make people complicit.

Chinese are good at copying and innovating, why not create their own chips, os, et al. And please, ditch the notches, and make the top and bottom bezels symmetrical. Also put in symmetrical dual front facing speakers, then ill go back to huawei.

If they were really worried about Huawei spying, they would enforce them to put physical killswitches on their phones for features like microphones, sat nav, wireless (Wi-Fi, data, GSM and Bluetooth) and would force them to remove the front camera for a better alternative (like the Asus Zenfone 6, 7 and 7 Pro).
THIS would actually make senses, but here we clearly see that they do care about user privacy but rather saw Huawei as a big threat as it was becoming too good and was eating too much of the market for their own actually spying devices.
Which is why all those listed kill-switches and no dedicated front camera should be a standard (mandatory) thing for smartphones as privacy is much more important than most peoples think it is.

It's an irony and stupidity to ban a company which generates more than $1B for American companies at this downturn of economic uncertainties with a useless arguments on security backdoors of their products. To Huawei, necessity is the mother of invention for a new beginning I'm waiting on the next innovations

Huawei have come from nothing to a worldwide massive company and Trump doesn't want them beating Apple, so he bans them.
They said a security risk but you can have a licence to use American chips from AMD and Intel "Genius"

So My daughter using Mate 20 since one year (used a old Apple 5 before), The wife Using P30 pro and I using P40 pro without android (no issues) and son just swap a month ago his old iphone for the huawei p6Y also without google store but is no issue only for youtube he need an alternative app but it works great and he can easy store his fav youtube channels.
We all had Apple devices and My daughter was the only one with the hauwei and we all used Apple devices and one ipad. Since we saw the beating of the brand Huawei I swap my Iphone for a P30 pro and love it. My wife also saw the better camera and she wanted the same device ,so she swap to mine and I bought the P40 pro.
Now we all have Huawei and a Matepad 10.8 since a year and it works great. Camera setup is great and love the gesture swipe of the devices.
Never gone buy Apple anymore and my older brother has the iphone SE (twice new battery) and he just bought this summer a Huawei P30 lite just because it's so much cheaper and he also love to swipe :) my Sister stil using Apple so we still have one member

Oh come on! If Huawei did not get banned it wouldn't surprise me that the could have had more sales in US then Apple at some point. It's a darn shame that such grate company gets bullied by corporate / government but holes

'License' to be able to use the license. It's funny, because that 'license' will never be given to a non-US company. Some greedy people are building a monopoly market.

This is great news but also kinda dumb.
Phoneware not passed or cleared but laptop possible?
Anyway, Huawei is best known for its 3 biggest advantage over the rotten Apple, namely;
1. Fluid Interface with fast, stable processor that multi-task without worry of lag.
2. Superb Battery management that keeps your device at work for hours or even days if u are light user and charge back up at the shortest time.
3. Superb cameras but that utilizes the Japanese Sony parts which is not sure if they can still work with Huawei. If they do, its good collaboration between the Chinese and Japanese.
Last but not mentioned, its 5G connectivity.
In fact if it wasn't sabotaged by the US Republicans, half the world would be working in seemless fast pace and gaming will be so much better.

They consume lots of x86-based chips in their offerings.
