The Google Pixel 5 will reportedly cost $700, $200 more than the Pixel 4a 5G

25 September 2020
That's a big premium, considering that both phones use the same Snapdragon 765G chipset and are similar in other respects too.

    There might be other improvements in Pixel 5 too. I am not outright supporting Google's decision, but let's wait and watch, perhaps there is something that might make it worth the money.

          This is like Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra,1 looks overpriced compared to the other but in reverse for Pixel 4a 5g and Pixel 5. I see Google has been taking notes from Samsung LOL.

            Google is a super rich company. And Google is filled with elite people who allegedly want "redistribution of wealth" of super rich people. If they really think so, how about starting that with redistributing their own wealth by not overpricing the Pixel phone? $700 for a thing that is destined to be obsolete in 3 years?

                i dont see it as an overpriced phone, i see it as a refresher of the premium line they have, i probably change my 2 XL to a 5 because of the battery and the performance ive seen with the new android 11, everyone complaining is a pricy phone are the same that buy overprice iphones

                  Why not google give sd 865 at 800 bucks? That seems better deal atleast, it will have something flagshipy then, at 700,sd 765 is a joke

                    For the first time I would rather buy iPhone 12.

                      For the excellent camera, IP rating, wireless charging, clean software, 3 years OS updates $700 does not seem to be such a bad price...but I guess I am in minority.

                          I'm still rocking the Pixel 2. Been a huge phone of this phone since I got it and considered upgrading (finally) to the 5 but was waiting for the official specs and cost to be released. $700 for a mid-level chip, however, is a no for me. I'll wait for the OnePlus 8T. Better specs all around.

                            Do not forget the pixel core chip. The a model pixels usually do not come with that chip. The 5 will. Meaning the camera performance will be much better in the 5

                              This is not going to sell well... They added a marginally faster 5G chipset, 2GB extra ram, 90Hz refresh and an ultrawide camera that most people won't use for $350 over the Pixel 4a. I love my Pixel 4a, this 5 already seems like a horrific value proposition.

                                $500/€500/£500 - this is total bullshit. I hate when companies do that, which means every goddamn time.

                                      Pixel 5 = $700
                                      Velvet = more than $700
                                      HMD 8.3 = 600 euros

                                      And I still read comments that say Sony should charge about $800 for 5ii.
