After Xperia 3, I never bought another SONY phone again. Every year I wait on Sony to wow me and they never do. Now, every year I wait on SONY to at least put all the basic bells and whistles on their phones, which normal flagships has. SONY just continues to disappoint every single year. SONY phones are not competitive as a complete device anymore. Some of their innovations are, but not as a complete device. SONY IS NOT LISTENING TO THE PEOPLE, SONY is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Soon phone manufacturers will start making the cameras on phones as good as an actual SONY camera and then both the SONY CAMERA and the SONY PHONE business will be dead. It's almost like that is what SONY wants. Then other big electronic producers who are currently spending big money in research and development will soon have cheaper gaming devices to go with their high end televisions.

      SONY it's 2020 WAKE UP!!‼️

And here we are, once again. All the Sony fans, assemble

They're increasing the brightness because they might've figured out how to properly manage efficiency and low risk of burn ins.
At least the display wouldn't come with a stupid camera cutout like on the ugly Galaxies and iPhones and Huaweis and the rest.

Front camera would receive an upgrade, just as expected.

Still, the haters would find something to hate about their perfect products. Just in typical old fashion of the insecured ones...

Sony is an excellent quality product. But, it cannot compete with Samsung or.huawei or Honor, unless they change display Bessel less design. Sony got all the pioneering technologies, but they have lack external design to attract customers and to be competitive with others

              sony listen!
im big fans of sony phones.
my xperia s still working fine to this day.

but one point that should have been improved is camera quality!! Im not saying it's bad but
i know it will get great photo with camera-pro app, but i bet 98% of user prefer to use their camera to point and shoot without getting confusing what setting to choose before you wanna take a picture! make it great in auto mode.

              Here what you need:
1: BETTER dynamic range (sony phones have been struggle with dynamic range since forever)
              2: Night Mode (It's a must in 2020/2021)
3: More Detail Image (I feel Sony phone camera results are softer than such as iphone huawei etc)
4: Use AI (We know Xperia 1 tend to approach a more natural images, but atleast give user an option)
5: Seamless lens-transition (iPhone and another Android flasghip can do that, why cant Sony?)

What things need improvements over 1 ii:
              - 120hz display
              - Stainless-steel or titanium frame (stronger than aluminum)
              - Reduce the bezel by 4%
              - No punch hole
              - 4400 mah (min) battery (i dont mind if it increases thickness of the phone)

screen brightness is more of a "personal preference" category parameter, not so much a technical performance one. it is important for people using a phone in (very) bright light environments or similar, for me contrast is more of use. +500 nits will do nicely in a regular european sunny day and even better in indoors, home / office settings. anyhow, i do not intend to watch movies in full sun up on top of my head, just, of course, occasional picture taking in such conditions. as i said, a mater of value engineering: functionality, usefulness and costs :)

                  2016

Sony : our phone has 13MP front camera !
Haters: what a waste, 7MP is more than enough, trim bezels!

                  2020

Sony : our phone comes with 8MP!
Haters: only 8? My chinese junk has 32.

Mobilemaster, 28 Sep 2020Finally Sony did realize that their selfie cameras are a jo... moreLack of space.

The external circle we see is smaller than overall space used by camera.
The cam uses whole bezel already.
Smaller bezels than previous X series limits the sensor size.
XZ had 1/3", which is twice the size of 1/4" used now.

Nothing New, 28 Sep 2020I just don't understand sony at all , is brightness bi... moreUnfortunately, brightness is a very big problem for a company like Sony- it's hard to drive more pixels (4K Vs 2K) and need more energy to get as bright and means an even shorter battery life. Secondly, colour and bright consistency is a problem at higher brightness levels which Sony like Apple want to nail before releasing. Finally,

                        At expense of the battery.

For oled, smaller pixels have lower light emission.
Sony has smaller screen than those QHD phones, with almost 50% more resolution.

Wasted space and money, just ditch the front camera already.

Are latest sony phones made in Japan? If there are no more made in Japan products available worldwide, how Japan is surviving??? Strange!

[deleted post]I wonder why so many Sony fans have so much in common with military Apple fans - coincidence? Maybe.

While that's good to hear, I really think Sony should've resolved those issues LAST year before they had released Xperia 1. A 500 to 600-nit "professional level" display panel and a 1/4" selfie camera on their >$1000 high end phones from this year were, frankly speaking, quite disappointing.
