Some one please stop Apple! This is simply ridiculous and even more ridiculous is the fact that they are getting their way! Hope we are not forced to buy only apple as as things seem someday all patents would be with apple and rest all would be banned! :) Shame on the company who in spite of having products which are benchmark in every segment resorts to these tactic's to fight out with competition. Hope this thing get's posted as this is something serious and true of recent times. Apple is going extremely wrong and unfortunately it's allowed!!

Dear friends, permit me to give a piece of exposition why apple is fighting hard to push samsungmobiles to hell.Apple is foresighted, haven seen her own fate caused by the uprise of samsungmobiles decided to tackle using PATENT law.sumsung has been able to meet the need of the present generation without prevent the future generation to meet their own need.A thing that is not in apple's policy.if apple refuses to satisfy the peoples interest by introducing option for customers to choose from her mobile phones.they cant defeat sumsung with their PATENT system.i repeat they cant win this war.apple your days are number

O....M....G....! Get over it people - like big deal. Do you really, really use it that much? Don't you customise your screens (Home and App) so that Apps you want most are easy to find?

Anyway, Samsung trying to avoid a potential battle over a feature that is not worth the million$ it could cost to defend. I'm not about to lose any sleep...

Just pretend that Symbian never happened, that way you can enjoy the magical roller coaster rise of the "new" developments.

I mean, basically everything happened on Symbian first. Tethering, multitasking, integrated VOIP dialling... oh wait that hasn't happened on Android or Apple yet. It'll be so exciting when somebody in California gets around to inventing that.

If you don't patent, you will loose your rights to compensation and licensing, naturally. Prior Art requires the inventor to PUBLICLY document his or her invention in some way, shape or form so that it becomes "obvious". If this isn't done, the invention is up for grabs and anyone can take the idea and publicly claim it as their own.

And just for everyone's knowledge: Apple's patent was filed back in 2004, with citations filed in 1994:

But, I know that my N73 had universal search feature. How the hell did Apple get a patent for it? when it was available several years before and was being used by customers. Have they actually managed to get a patent with such a generic description of universal search?
