And people always go on a tantrum throwing crusade when I tell them why I love software side of iPhones because it has none of this nonsense. When there is an update you'll get it that moment and you're pretty much guaranteed to get that for 5 years. Google seriously needs to entirely restructure how Android is made and distributed because its fragmentation is the biggest nonsense I've seen to date anywhere. Even Samsung's promises of 3 years of updates has a microscopic asterisk at the end which basically says "only if you buy our most expensive stuff". For everything else they churn out on weekly basis it's business as usual. Months of waiting with a pinch of hope you'll actually get the next major OS version. Most phones these days even from mid range segment are fast enough to last for years without becoming unbearably slow, but they are all made obsolete through lack of OS updates.

And don‘t forget the software rollouts start in Latin America first, and then move on to Australia before they reach the rest of the World, which again gives you 3 different articles on GSMArena and thus more attention.

This budget phone is now getting it's second major update. Kudos to HMD

In terms of UI and functionality, Android 9 is in par with MIUI9. If you're well versed with tech, you don't need the latest security patch too.

Also, don't just look at providing update. Look at how well the update was. I've seen people complaining a lot with updates. It's a good thing though. Providing updates, and I appreciate that.

Sensible (at least for me) flagship (XR, 11), best of the best (absurdly nonsense) (Pro(fit)), utilitarian (fine for daily usage as far you had life) (SE). Heck I've bought used 1st gen SE in 2018, it hardly let me down for my task. For some reason, this little **** still got updates. Kinda reminded me with Windows Phone (RIP).

Support from Qualcomm depends on how popular cpu is today.
Also, 845 is 10nm when few from 7xx are 8 and 7nm already.

                    Android One is scam.

Phones from Sony , OnePlus and few from Huawei get new android before them.

I think all phone companies should release 4 simple phones:

                      1. The one budget phone on Android Go
                      2. Low-level to level Mid-ranger on Android One
                      3. Level to Higher-level mid-ranger (maybe even using a flagship processor from 2 years ago or something)
                      4. Flagship among flagships.

EVERY year and that's it. That way, it's easier to keep track of.

I think it's better late than never. HMD has lots of Android phones and they keep their promise to update every single of those phones twice in their lifetime.

On the other hand, Redmi is giving skin update but not the Android version. Smh.
