AnonD-731363, 12 Oct 2020Man old ancient technologies like a jack would and should b... moreThis is a deeply shit response...

There are many exemples of old tech working well and being better than newer tech, in fact a common thing is to get back to ancien methods with new implementations as they work better, hell even aircraft, the first ones were controlled by physically bending the wings, then we made moving control surfaces, and now we thing seriously to get back at flexible wings.

And this is BECAUSE the Jack is so old that we should keep it, one word : COMPATIBILITY, which is why your phone can still connect to Wi-Fi A, Bluetooth 1 and use 2G.
The Jack appeared in 1877, and since then it is still one of the top connector option for professional audio engineer and musician with only XLR as an equivalent.
Most of the most expensive and top quality headphones and headset are still using the Jack, most instruments, mainly guitars use almost only the Jack.

And when they use wireless, they surely don't use something as bad, low quality, short range and easy to disconnect as Bluetooth.
There are not a single valid reason to remove the Jack, if anything, a newer implementation by using magnetic connector over physical ports is the way to go, but the Jack being old is not one of those reasons, it is a reason to keep it.

Wireless is not the future, many don't want lesser audio quality with frequent disconnection, the pain in the butt to pair and connect those, the extra gadget to recharge that are expensive and poor quality.
If it wasn't for stuff like Smartwatch there would have been way more reasons to remove the Bluetooth over the Jack.

With such poor insight about technology and backward logic, I wouldn't be surprised of you are part of those spreading totally false and debunked myths about the pop up by using key words and pre-made sentences like "the industry want to move away from moving parts".

Funny part is that when phones, pushed by logic from peoples like you, will ditch the USB port and the only option for charging or transferring files will be wireless, you'll be part of the very firsts to complain about the lack of cable option.

If so many phones did not FORCED users to buy wireless gimmick stuffs by removing the Jack, the majority of peoples would gladly still be using wired earphones right now, in fact I have seen no one in person using wireless ear/headphones but on the contrary everybody I talked about it said it looked stupid and didn't wanted those wireless things.

The real issue is peoples like you enforcing standards that no one want and who aren't capable of understanding what diversity is about nor how non-intrusive tech shouldn't be omitted.

Holes in the display, notch, physical only buttons (to be replaced by tactile + click through), curved displays, dedicated front camera, physical ports (to be replaced by flat magnetic connector)...
Those are things that should be removed, but the Audio Jack and a good DAC that come with it is NOT.

A real volume wheel - YES PLEASE! Bring it back!

Then I would no longer have to press the power button or (worse) ... assistant button, by mistake -- because the volume wheel would feel distinctly different.
I like tactile things. It is human nature to like to touch things.

Well there are plenty of strange phones from plenty of brrands.
DIOR or Gresso for example. A super expensive and super luxury phone but at its time was pretty average.
Another stange things but well working was Nvidia tablets.
                    And we can continue.

Honestly, i never expect to CAT make phones even with their FLIR module cameras, but they are a very inusual company entering in the most diverse markets from construction machinery to footwear and even in fashion.

The Marshall London was fabulous for music (in and out!) back in the day! Loved mine, can't remember what happened to it. Might even be sitting in a drawer somewhere. You've inspired me to go on a cupboard hunt!

I actually had that phone, the London. And it was a good studio for recording drumming, but kinda meh as a phone. If it had the 615 or even 617 with 3GB ram and 32GB storage it was an excellent midrange. But such is life.
