Sony Xperia 5 II available for pre-order in the US with a free gaming bundle, but there's a catch

12 October 2020
Two, in fact. First, the phone won't ship until December 4, well over a month from now. Also, it's 4G only unlike the European model.

already available for import to the philippines from hk... it is over a thousand dollars, but that already includes shipping, custom taxes and other taxes of both countries... there are many other options to buy it cheaper, but the risk of missing parcel is higher...
i will still stick to my 1 ii... i think for the next 2-5 years like my z5 premium... but I still cant give it up, i think i have to build an xperia museum... ha ha...
5 ii is a good deal, but if it was released with 1 ii, i would still choose the latter... just cant skip the 4k oled hdr, wireless charging is just nice to have...

In eastern Europe, we are getting the phone this week. I aleady got mine today and there was a system update already. So far so good, nothing wrong to say about the phone and the pricing is definitely adequate to the quality of the phone.

I can't understand why anyone in the US would buy a phone that doesn't support basic bands necessary to work with cellular networks and doesn't support any US 5G bands. This is not a phone made for North America. I wish Sony would come out with a proper US version.

"the US the phone is limited to 4G (while it is 5G-enabled in Europe and Japan)."

This is incorrect, it's 5G enabled just like the x1ii. But the US uses 5G waves that are completely different compared to the world and the modem is not compatible. If you take the phone to another country then the 5G will work.

                              The 5G is not disabled.

I just wish it had Band 71 support. For a phone being sold in the U.S., they should at least integrate all of the U.S. LTE bands.

Same price of S20 was, that is better too.

Yes, they have obligation to provide the charger they sell for $48 (charger + cable), that probably does not cost them $10.
