Unlike companies like vivo, oppo, and xiaomi who release like 100 different phones every year, apple is taking the environmental-friendly route.
All their manufacturing is sourced from renewable energy.

Sometimes companies start with more storage options when in reality you don't even use that much storage.
When people buy a new phone, you are 70% of the time replacing their old phone, so you don't need a new charger.
Spending $50 for saving the environment for future chargers you don't need is a bargain, I think.
Also, 12 mini is more comparable to 5 mark 2 because it's mainly about the width that determines compactness. iPhone 12's size is similar to 1 mark 2.

They can't complaint about poor market shares
considering they don't even try to sell theirs phones
How come such a great device have such a poor
marketing & catastrophic release schedule?
Plus releasing a current gen flagship (S865) weeks before the
next gen CPUs (S875) are released is really bad timing.
Just don't announce the phone yet if it's not gonna be
in the streets before another couple of months

Sony, which among its various product sectors has a video game division where it is a reference, and also audio (where they produce some of the best premium headphones (competing with Bose, Sennheiser, Audio-Technica)), could not have done your own line of headsets (with retractable microphone) designed to be used both for normal use (PC) and for games (be it Playstation, Smartphone, PC)?
I think it's bizarre for a company of this size not to do that.

In eastern Europe, we are getting the phone this week. I aleady got mine today and there was a system update already. So far so good, nothing wrong to say about the phone and the pricing is definitely adequate to the quality of the phone.

I still don't understand this continuous act of self-sabotage from Sony, but no US customer in their right mind is paying $1000 for a willfully crippled "flagship" with no 5g and limited LTE bands. I'm a Sony fan going back to the 1980's, but their extended nose-diving in smartphone design remains mystifying.
I do enjoy the venom of some of the more militant Sony apologists here...if only that venom = effective marketing or good overall design.

* HD screen 60Hz not capable to show 10bit, no 4K HDR video, no sd slot, no 2x or 3x camera, 1/2.6" main camera, no gorilla glass, almost 2800mAh .
** " Just $900" if you live in USA, be sure that in other nations the same device will be way more than $1050. Sony charges similar prices in all places they sell.
Apples does need to cut their prices.
